We arrived a little early but was greated with a warm welcome by the front of house staff at check in. The staff were warm, attentive and professional throughout. The design of the hotel was great. Our room was on the 6th floor, with a nice view. On arrival, the scent of the room was noticeably pleasant. You could tell the room had recently been painted. The cleanliness was good. The only bit missing from the room was a luggage stand which you'd normally expect to find. The bed was firm but with good quality bedding. Unfortunately during the night we were woken several times by groups of guests in the corridor coming in after a night out. So woke tired. We had breakfast included but unfortunately this was the weakest part of our stay. Breakfast was a la carte but only one drink included per person. A choice of standard tea, filter coffee or juice. This felt quite frugal for such a high end hotel. The tea was poor, had bits of leaf in it and there was bits floating in the milk (possibly uht). You get a choice of one continental item and one hot. Again unfortunately both items arrived together. So you had to eat a hot cooked breakfast then one continental. Or let your hot items go cold. On check out, we were informed of the optional 5% service charge. This applied to the room rate. It was opt out, so felt a bit awkward asking for it to be removed. This should be opt in rather than out and on incidentals only. Express check out guests would get a surprise!
