Good for weekend stay
Yalin Express Hotel is basically the perfect location if you plan to spend your time in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. It's not actually inside the park (so you can arrive after the park closes around 5-6pm) but it's a short stroll to the entrance. There are a number of small dishes-type restaurants nearby (all local food, but some have English menus) and convenience stores in walking distance. Comfort-wise, the beds are typical for a Chinese hotel, so very firm. The room was pretty clean - no visible mold (except for a little on the grout in the shower and shower curtain). There was a good powerful stand-alone air conditioner unit that we were glad to make use of. The shower had plenty of hot water. There were no bath-sized towels but that's typical. Staff was very friendly and helpful, communicating through the use of a translation app. They helped us arrange a car back to the airport and kept our luggage for a few hours after we checked out.
