This is a working winery with rooms and is an actual castle! Short ride to Montereggione, Castel Pietraio is a quiet respite from the rest of thrr we chaos of traveling in Italy. An evening wine tasting and charcuterie let us converse with travelers from all over the world. Comfortable, generous rooms, and a well-maintained pool. Spend 2-3 nights if you can!

It was an amazing stay! Mauro went out of his way to make us feel at home. We enjoyed the relaxing stay, the beautiful grounds, and the convenience of being in a centralized location for travel to small towns all within an hour. I cannot say enough good things about this property! It is a family-owned and operated property with an amazing vineyard, olive trees for olive oil, and lots of space to roam and explore. The family that runs the property are so incredibly kind and accommodating! Catarina was phenomenal with her recommendations on places to go and see, along with her favorite restaurants. She also was just a genuinely good person and fun to talk to! We did the wine tour here and loved being able to taste our first Tuscan wines, and even took home some olive oil! Parking was so convenient, the room was lovely and charming with all of the amenities that you need (including automatic shutter closure for blackout "curtains"!). We are so thankful that we stayed here and got to know this amazing family in the area!

The property was nice. We didn’t feel we were staying in the actual castle but we dined in the morning there. Lovely area and staff was great albeit less versed in English (my fault not theirs). The room was lovely and spacious.

Place itself amazing! Castel from 15 century looks stunning and gives you opportunity to be part of the history. If you like old authentic furniture and history- this place for you. If you are looking for service and other modern hotels features, look somewhere else.( WiFi you can have). Otherwise, beautiful views from the windows and great location in the heart of Toskany.

There was an amazing soft blanket for extra warmth, i get really cold and this made all the difference for me. Bed was comfy and the shutters are automatic, really neat feature. Cute place

Hidden Gem!!!

We were looking for an overnight stay in the Tuscany area and luckily found Castel Pietraio. It is a family owned castle and winery. We were charmed by Francesca and her father Mauro Neri Del Nero. We had a wonderful stay. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was prepared by a lovely Italian woman and was delicious. Though are stay was short we managed to squeeze in a trip to Siena (a must see) and Monteriggioni Castel (Assassin's Creed). We also bought 2 cases of their award winning wines (the Merlot won 3rd in all of italy) and a bottle of their olive oil. We look forward to sharing the wine with friends and family and the time we spent with these two exceptional people. Cheers!!
