I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, and while the staff was polite and pleasant, my experience was far from great. When I first arrived, the gentleman at the front desk was kind and welcoming. He checked me in quickly and gave me my room key.
As I always do when traveling, I inspected the room before unpacking. Unfortunately, I immediately noticed a large number of ants in the bathroom. I called the front desk right away, and about 30 minutes later, the same gentleman came to inspect. He confirmed the ants, said he would spray, and asked if I was staying multiple nights so he could move me the next day. Since I was only there for one night, I told him no, and he said he’d be back with spray.
Hours later, around 9:30 PM, I left the hotel and saw him again. I mentioned that no one had come to spray yet and asked that no one enter my room while I was gone since I have asthma and needed to know what chemicals would be used.
When I returned around 2 AM, a different front desk associate—who was also very kind and professional—immediately offered to move me to a new room, which I appreciated. However, when I got to the new room, I found ants again—this time on the tables, counters, and even on some of my belongings.
What disappointed me most was that this issue could have been resolved much sooner. Once the first clerk saw the extent of the ants, he should’ve offered to move me right away. While the staff was friendly, the lack of cleanliness and prompt action really m
