This is the type of hotel that gets the job done but isn't anything extraordinary. It's very conveniently-located if you're looking to do the more touristy things in NYC--and easy subway rides away from things further out--but with that said, this area is VERY congested once you get outside, so keep that in mind.
The rooms could definitely use with some updating. The carpeting was rather gross, the windows were dirty, and the ceiling in the bathroom was peeling. The sink in the bathroom was also a super weird design where the faucet isn't in front of you but on the side which may not seem like a big deal, but it was super awkward to use.
The biggest complaint we have, though, is that they won't hold your bags for free. It was $5 per item to hold our bags for a few hours on the day we checked out (they also charge if you do this before you check in, so it's not a matter of us being done with our stay). The front desk also arranged for their car service to pick us up from the hotel to take us to the airport for a flat rate, but when we got to the airport, the price was not what the hotel quoted us and the driver didn't allow us to see the breakdown price. Super weird.
