Meridien is well located in Melbourne St, close to restaurants and cafes. You can walk into the city from here in under half an hour but there are buses at the front door. Off street parking is available which I appreciate. Staff upgraded me again which was very kind and well received. The beds are good, linen and rooms clean. Good value.

Great stay. Was upgraded by reception staff prior to arrival. Have stayed here intermittently over 30 years. Good location in Melbourne St.

Only slept in the bed for a few hours so didn't really spend time in the room for more than that. More economical than spending money on a taxi to and from the city for an event. Room was right in the far end of the hotel with no balcony. Didn't matter though as we spent no time in the room apart from sleeping

Our arrival was late night. The book in staff member was very helpful. We were a group of 12 and his quick response and book in process was professional. All staff for our complete stay of 2 nights was relaxing thanks to the staff. The male trainee staff member who was on duty both Sat & Sun was a very pleasant man. He was able to give us directions and was able to answer all questions we asked. His manner was exceptional.

Very disappointing stay. Accidentally left some clothes in the room, called to arrange to collect them after checking out but they were not handed in by cleaners. They failed to remove the empty wine bottles in the cupboard from the previous guests. Requested the sofa bed for a child but we had to unfold it ourselves which was difficult, and would have been impossible if I was alone being pregnant. Door is not child proof - handle is low and no safety chain so we had to barricade it with chairs to make sure our toddler didn't walk out during the night.

The greeting and check-in at meridian was great. Then it went a little downhill. The lift (1) speed, painting and smell of the property reflect the age; as do the carpets and in-room ac. Bed was comfortable, pool was nice; parking was inadequate (every night we were there the carpark ran out of spaces); room had a slight smell of vomit which we discovered the next day aligned with a light coloured stain on the carpet - and if you opened the external door or window you generally got a lovely waft of cigarette smoke. Location was good, walking distance to restaurants, parks and cbd. We booked for 3 people, and unlike a lot of places the sofa-bed was made up and there was actually 3 towels, thank you. So overall - ok, but we probably won’t stay there again.

Some unusual noise i the night, the shower water temperature was very variable, got very hot at time. Very much a pain to use.
