I recently stayed at the Wyndham in the Beacon Hill area and wanted to share my experience. The biggest advantage of this hotel is definitely its location. It’s within walking distance to many of Boston’s most popular areas about 15–20 minutes to the North End, Quincy Market, and Boston Common. It’s also roughly a 35–45 minute walk (or a 10–12 minute drive) to the Prudential Center, Newbury Street, and the Seaport. For anyone who wants to explore the city on foot, the location is a major plus.
However, the hotel itself leaves quite a bit to be desired. The carpet and bathrooms are clearly dated, while the bathroom had been recently recaulked, it still felt old and worn. The bed sheets had tears in the corners, which gave the room an unkempt feel. The shower drained very slowly, causing water to pool during use. Additionally, the hallways had a noticeable smoky odor that lingered.
There are also some functional issues: the hotel has only two elevators, and they are often slow or crowded, which can be frustrating during peak hours. Overnight parking is available with in-and-out privileges, but it costs around $70 per night, something to keep in mind if you're driving in.
On a positive note, the room lighting was good, and the water pressure in both the shower and sink was solid.
Overall, if your top priority is location, this hotel delivers. But if you're looking for a more updated, comfortable, and better-maintained experience, you may want to explore others
