For our family stay, I made two separate bookings, partly paid with my Hotels.com Rewards. I was surprised to notice that, despite only five minutes between the two bookings, the price of the second reservation had dropped by more than 27% compared to the first. Expedia pointed to Clayton, stating that the hotel sets the prices, while Clayton pointed to Expedia, claiming they determine the rates. This lack of clarity was frustrating.
One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was the availability of connecting rooms, which are ideal when traveling with children. Strangely enough, after booking, I was informed that these rooms were not available in my price category, which was quite disappointing.
Upon arrival, we found the rooms to be extremely warm. I turned on the air conditioning, but the temperature continued to rise above 30°C. When I reported this to the hotel staff, they explained that the air conditioning is turned off in the winter and automatically switches to heating. Their advice? Turn off the system and open the window. Unfortunately, it was still warm outside, so this had little effect. As a result, we did not sleep well.
Another reason for choosing this hotel was the swimming pool, which my children were very excited about. However, upon arrival, I discovered that access to the pool required an additional fee of €10 per person. After some negotiation, this was adjusted to €5 per child and €10 per adult, but it would have been helpful to know this in advance.
