The advantage of this hotel is that the price is low. Although the furniture and decorations in the rooms are old-fashioned and dilapidated, the rooms are relatively big and clean. Meanwhile, the service of the reception is acceptable. Our rooms facing the railway station, the view is nice and we can hardly hear any noise of the trains in the room. Several chain restaurants are just nearby.
However, the sanitary condition of the restaurant on G/F (where the breakfast is served) is extremely poor as most of the tableware is covered with stains that can be easily removed. We can even see some food or tea leaf debris inside some of the cups. In a nutshell, the hygiene of the restaurant is much poorer than most restaurants in Shanghai City. Moreover, some machines in the restaurants (like coffee machines) are old and even not functioning well. Also, some drinks provided (like iced black tea) are diluted by the melted ice while there were no staff replacing them with new jars of drinks. The unpleasant experience of the breakfasts seriously affect our impressions towards IHG Group and we will definitely think twice before staying in hotels of InterContinental, Regent, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn etc. and dining in restaurants inside the above-mentioned hotels.
Besides, the location of the hotel is fair, it took about 20 mins to travel from the hotel to the Line 1 metro platform, so it might not be a good choice for those who have difficulties in walking for a long distance.
