Looks completely renovated. Directly on Lake George. Free kayaks. Short walking distance to the town.

10/10 Excellent

I have been traveling to Lake George for years as I love the beauty and activities of this area. Normally hotel stays are ok and nothing really wows me. Most need updating. I stayed at the Sundowner and was so pleased with everything! The rooms are updated and are decorated like adorable log cabins inside. The room was spotless and spacious! The staff were friendly and accommodating. We had a small issue with air conditioning and they sent someone right away to fix it. Kima at reception desk and Jay Jay in property management really impressed me with their friendly demeanor and seemed interested in making sure we had a great time. Kayaks and paddleboards were free and other hotels charge a few. Will definitely be back again!! Great job done by the Sundowner team.

If you are smart you would NOT stay at this property. At check in we were told we needed to move to 3 different rooms (we only stayed 4 nights) we are a family of 5 and had to pack our stuff in our car each day. This was the worst inconvenience and ruined our vacation. Lisa the manager was very rude, not understanding and would not compensate us anything. She ignored my text, I couldn’t talk to anyone but her, this business really needs to think about who their manager is and how to treat costumes. The pool area was dirty and the parking was horrible. I’m not really sure how a business can be ran like this. I will be take this to the location news. Robert Gregor has not heard the last from me.

2nd time staying here. Absolutely a favorite. Such a cozy clean cabin feel in any style room you rent from them.

We had a great experience at the Sundowner in lake George. It was right on the lake and the beach, dock, Kayaks and fire pit with a huge plus. the room was nicely decorated as a log cabin feel. Would definitely return.

The rooms were very clean. The staff went out of their way to take care of our needs. Rooms were more than we expected loved it would we come back yes! Had a beautiful view of the lake a lot of things you could do within walking distance .

The room was fabulous! Everything we could need and more! It provided a “ cabin by the lake” feeling! The decor was perfect, the little fireplace was great and the kitchenette was well stocked and made it nice yo not have to fight breakfast crowds because we could shop the night before and have breakfast in our room!

silviya, 3-night trip

6/10 Okay

Overpriced for what it is and given many other options. Totally expected a view and barely one of you stated outside at edge of deck. Bed pillows were ridiculously uncomfortable /Get many small pillows for flexibility.
Constance, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

Thin walls, uncomfortable bed, nice decor

Very thin walls could hear other rooms clearly, WiFi was very slow. Pillows on the bed were SOOO lumpy. Rooms were well decorated but apart from that not a lot to recommend about this place.

The property is located near the local shops and restaurants and other fun activities such as boat rides and cruises. It is waterfront which why we booked the place. They have a small sand area that has lake access.Kayak and paddle board with life vests are free. Most of the cabin has small kitchen. They have heated outdoor pool and outdoor seats. My cabin has 2 queen sized bed and 1 full bath and the half bath is helpful as well.I have a small kitchen, refrigerator and microwave. I only put 2 stars for cleanliness because honestly my cabin is not clean.I even took pictures of the mouse droppings inside the drawers where they keep utensils and cooking wares. I did not use them and bought utensils at the store. Overall, the location is great and will give this experience a 5 out of 10. I may or may not come back to this place.
Katrina, 3-night trip

6/10 Okay

The motel is right on the water so we could swim in the pool or the lake. Free kayak rentals were great! Convenient walk to the village for shops and food. The room itself was okay. Maintenance kept coming in to get to the a/c closet that was very inconveniently located in our room (condo unit). The light switch for our room was located in the hall, our lights would turn on and off randomly during the day and night - also annoying when you are sleeping and the lights come on. Then you have to get up and go turn them back off.

2/10 Terrible

My experience at the Sundowner Hotel in Lake George was incredibly frustrating. I booked a room through Expedia and paid in full. After a grueling five-hour drive through a snowstorm—our first family trip with our baby—we arrived exhausted, only to be told the hotel never received payment from Expedia. The hotel would not give us a room unless we paid in full for the same amount i paid Expedia. So we were stranded in a snowstorm with a 6 month old and no other option but to pay for the room again. The manager’s ‘solution’ for me to get a refund was to suggest I tell Expedia I wanted to cancel my stay because I couldn’t make it. But, I didn’t purchase trip insurance, so Expedia wouldn’t refund me after numerous attempts. This left us stranded, stressed, and out of pocket for a room I had already paid for. It’s a real shame because the hotel itself was beautiful. The rooms were clean, the view was stunning, and everything else was lovely. I would have loved to recommend this place. Unfortunately, due to the unprofessionalism of management and the lack of proper communication with Expedia, I just can’t. Travelers deserve better reliability and service. I have been visiting Lake George since i was a child and this was my worst experience on the lake. Shame on the management of this hotel! UPDATE: When we arrived home we explained everything to Expedia. They refunded me in full.
