This is the North Shore’s best kept secret. It’s a very nice hotel with a terrific staff. Kids love the pool, too! This hotel is directly in the heart of the North Shore and is a great jumping off point to Grand Marais, the Gunflint Trail, the Splitrock Lighthouse and more. So many places overcharge for their stays, but this place is priced right for families. A very friendly convenience store is adjacent and you can see the lake right from the hotel. Breakfast is pretty good too and you have many options to choose from. Don’t be a sucker and book at an overpriced resort, this is what you need.

I kind of wish the cleaning staff wouldn’t hang out in the upstairs area right next to our room at night though, since they video chat/blare music from their phones out loud when our toddler was trying to sleep. Breakfast was ok, but they didn’t have a lot of options for lactose intolerance.

We were pleased with the quiet setting and clean room. We are older and desired a 1st floor room, but were only able to get a 2nd floor accommodation. There is no elevator, so lugging things up and down stairs is a challenge.
