Nice location, close to some great restaurants and parks

This hotel has no elevator, and our room was about a 5 minute walk from the front desk. We had a heavy cooler, along with all of our many bags that we had to carry up and down the stairs, then another 5 minutes down a never ending hallway to our room. The bed made an explosion sound that echoed below the room everytime when sitting on it. The bed was also very uncomfortable. The front desk staff was not very friendly or hospitable. The sauna was not working, and the pool is very dirty all along the walls of the pool there are dirt marks, along with finger and feet prints. I will absolutely not stay here again.

Born and raised in the area and having worked for original owner, I couldn’t believe how dilapidated this hotel has become. This is a potential goldmine that the current owners are neglecting so poorly that I would never recommend to ANYONE!! Do NOT believe the photos they have posted; they are beyond deceiving. Poorly maintained (and obviously managed), with hundreds of simple, inexpensive fixes that could make this property at least three stars if not four. And these fixes could generate twice the occupancy as well as the ability to sell the rooms out at a higher rate. It’s a Goldmine going to junk. One example: two abandoned tires sitting outside of my room’s window during the three days I was there!!! Why they weren’t cleared away is beyond comprehension. I really wish I knew the owner(s)/management so that I could help them bring this property back to the goldmine it is. But I honestly doubt that they even care, just from witnessing the amount of neglect that simple, inexpensive fixes that could be done so extremely easily. I was so looking forward to staying here during my visit home. It broke my heart to witness its poor condition and obvious lack of care for the hotel and property. Do NOT stay here!! The owners obviously need to feel the pain of low occupancy in order to be motivated enough to start caring for this once Gem of Chesterton and The Dunes. So brokenhearted.

The location on a small lake/pond attracts water birds which is lovely. The hotel is well kept but there is a great deal of litter in the immediate surroundings, which detracts from the property.

Very nice, clean hotel. Lobby was beautiful with great views of the pond. Staff was friendly. The only drawback was the lack of an elevator. A staff person explained the origins of this phenomenon as it related to an archaic county law. Unfortunately, this still presents a problem for anyone with mobility issues. People assume that a multi story hotel has elevators. Putting that absence into the general list of the hotel’s of amenities is not enough. Despite this problem, this hotel is a lovely place to stay.

Nice place on a small Lake. It's been there a long time but has been nicely upgraded. It's great for a short getaway or a visit to the Indiana Dunes National Park. Enjoyed the stay.

It’s hard to put all the things wrong into a review that anyone will read. To get to the point, this place is a dumpster fire floating down the river. Be warned: they do not provide room service of any kind. I stayed here for two weeks for a project and had to beg for toilet paper and take out my own trash. My deck was so rotted and falling apart that is unsafe. I told the lady at the front, and she said someone was “working on it”. After the railing fell off, I collected it downstairs, brought her the lumber, and wrote my room number on it. If ownership doesn’t train their employees to prioritize liabilities, they will certainly pay for it in the court room. This is a great place to stay if you want to file a lawsuit against this hotel.
