Smokey smell
Stayed in room 224, the room smelled quite smokey from the fireplace below. It wasn’t ideal for my daughter’s asthma, but otherwise a beautiful stay.

Once and done!
A bit stuffy. Bar service was average, and I spent $350 for my group. Happy Hour was on and I was not advised. Breakfast is limited to a buffet or nothing. Coffee and toast is pretty standard options today. not everyone wants a big breakfast.

Beautiful Location and view. Rooms very nice Only issue, they need to update listing of restaurants and hours. Zulu only on Weekends. No glassware of any kind in room, needed to go to bar get a glass to brush my teeth. Patton's Pub, lacked ambience, was like a sports bar. (bar looked nice, but tables next to fireplace, just tables and bright lights. Macarthur Dining room was nice, though when you walk in, it looks like a banquet room, but towards the back very nice. Anyone with business at West Point should consider no other hotel than the Thayer. Its location at the entrance to the base could not be more convenient. The hotel itself is very handsome: old and solid with history abounding in every nook and cranny. Our top floor room had a magnificent view over the Hudson, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We ate all our meals in the restaurant, pub, and Zulu Time rooftop bar. There are not a lot of options for dining in the immediate area, but even so, we were happy to stay in and enjoy good food and gracious service. Everyone was as friendly and pleasant as could be. I'm looking forward to business bringing us here again so I can enjoy the Thayer's hospitality again!

View from zulu lounge is fabulous; waitstaff Vinny was terrific, bed was very comfortable. Breakfast choices good. Too noisy in the tavern for dinner on Wednesday but lovely at the lounge. Could hear train from mountain view room - but not a total deal breaker. Good proximity to West Point museum and welcome center. Enjoyed sense of history throughout the hotel.

I came back to the Thayer after a 11 year hiatus that we planned as a birthday visit/dinner. Our visit was wonderful.We enjoyed our stay and exploring the campus. Our dinner at MacArthur’s (That I was excited for) was underwhelming to say the least.It severely dampened what was otherwise a wonderful evening. The setting of the restaurant is stunning. The salads were excellent. When the main dishes arrived, the scallops and the beef short ribs, this is when the meal took a turn. Neither my wife nor I would care to have either dish again. It was disappointing at a restaurant of this caliber.

Great location. Although the property is beautiful and the staff amazing, it is an older hotel so be prepared for some stuff not working or out of order.
