Great location, easy access to beach and great that your stay comes with complimentary beach chairs and towels. Close to shops and plenty of restaurants. Staff is friendly and hotel provides daily housekeeping. The pool is a great option but the water was cold this did not spent too much time there. However overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Gale.

The price paid was not commensurate with what we received. The website indicated that breakfast was included, but upon arrival, we were told otherwise (no breakfast). We opted to have breakfast the next day, and the bill was exorbitant for a breakfast that was bland and cold. In short, if I had to go back, I wouldn't choose it.

I stayed in room 209 , I checked in at 12:30 am to my dismay they have a night club that plays house music till 4am horrifying!!! I Tried to change rooms they were booked so the next day I changed to room to 314 which was on a Sunday ! Noise level was good but I think night club was closed!! But toilet didn’t flush had maintenance come up to fix flushed but didn’t set float correctly so ended up fixing myself!! Nice property but you either want to be a hotel and take care of your customers or tear it down and make it a night club !!! I came to get away and relax and came home to Chicago more stressed from a horrific experience!!!

Terrible stay

Extremely disappointed with the entirety of the stay. We arrived and the front desk weren’t welcoming and barely acknowledged us while checking us in. Thrust a card machine in front of us without explaining why (security deposit it turns out) and then were generally exceptionally slow, uninterested and in my opinion that’s rude. The rooftop pool, which was one of the reasons we booked, was closed and we weren’t told in advance or on arrival, much to my dismay when I went up to enjoy it. The gym has a MAX capacity of 2 people(!) and the peloton bike which was a big advertising point in photos didn’t work. We were woken up on both mornings at 6am by alarms in rooms that weren’t occupied, while you could hear the ice machine and doors slamming on all floors. All in all and given the cost, this is probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed in for a long time

Comfortable but noisy

I was in 311. The room had a window that had something in front of it so there is no outside light that will come in thru the small window so the room stayed dark. The room was comfortable. Despite the fact that it's on the 3rd floor, you can hear the music coming up from the basement level (it sounded like the music could have been coming from above even though it wasn't). If you are an early sleeper, this room isn't for you. The music would go on until about 3-4AM. This hotel is also confusing because on the Collins Ave side, it's called The Gale and you have to walk through the restaurant to get to the check in desk. On the other end (James?) its called The Regent. Both entrances require you to walk up 3-4 steps to get to the check in area so you will need help if you have a lot or heavy luggage. This hotel gives you 2 free bottled waters a day in the room.

Pros: The location is convenient if you want to explore Ocean Drive and that part of South Beach. They do have a very nice restaurant which we did not dine at but the staff is very friendly. The lobby was also nice, the management was very friendly and welcoming. The rooftop pool is a very nice ammenity and we did take advantage of it after being out and about all day. Cons: There is no unloading space for guests and entrance is through the hotel restaurant which is very awkward. The only parking they offer is valet off-site parking which is $44 per night- quite steep. There is a parking garage about 7 min walking distance, west down 17th street which is $20 per 24 hours. The rooms are much smaller than anticipated and look very different from pictures on wesbite. The cooler in our room was not working properly, we put a maintenance request in but it was never followed up on. We were also put right by the elevator, the flooring at the hotel causes for noises to travel so we were woken up quite freqently by guests who were checking out early morning. Management is very friendly but one of the managers I spoke to cared too much about socializing and not enough about making sure our stay was going as expected. With the many choices of hotels in the area, I think I would give another hotel a chance and not re-book at Gale South Beach. I would rate my overall stay 4.5/10

Hotel lost power and service for the majority of my stay, hotel would not offer a refund for the stay that was given to guests who physically booked on site due to booking online, I would very much like my money back for the duration of my stay due to the lack of power.
