Staying at the Alexander Mansion felt like stepping back in time to an era of elegance and warmth. Every piece of furniture and every lamp tells a story—but what truly made this stay unforgettable was the hospitality of the 80-something host, a former chef, who graciously prepared a beautiful and heartfelt breakfast ceremony for us. His kindness and attention to detail gave our journey a sense of home and heartfelt care. Thank you for not only providing a charming place to stay, but for making every guest feel seen, welcomed, and cherished. This will remain one of the warmest memories of my travels. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking quiet, history, and genuine hospitality. It’s more than just a B&B—it’s a soul-soothing experience.

The host, Richard, is knowledgeable about the area and the Alexander Mansion. He is a gracious host and shares all that knowledge with the guests. The 4 course breakfast is to die for, and you won’t need to eat lunch!

Absolute best bed-and-breakfast

Went on a motorcycle run. With the Wife the flood run absolutely beautiful place a true gem very authentic Alexandria mansion. Very positive experiences made us a breakfast for all the guests. We all sat on together and had a four course breakfast each day. Nicest old man that ran the place. He had regular traditions that he performed for all the guests can’t tell you the secrets.

Our experience was absolutely perfect. Richard, the Innkeeper, was an amazing host. He gave us great recommendations around town for dinner and there were many wonderful touches included in the stay. We also got to learn a lot about the house. The breakfast was phenomenal. Richard goes above and beyond for everyone who stays at the mansion. My wife and I decided on a weekend getaway on short notice. We enjoy touring old mansions and so we were delighted when we came across the Alexander Mansion while doing a google search of nearby bed and breakfasts (We live in Minneapolis). The check-in with Richard was fun and easy. Richard provided several dinner recommendations and made our reservation once we decided where we wanted to go. Our accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well designed. The mansion was a step back in time. Richard provided an excellent four course breakfast. We are excited to return as soon as possible. We plan on bringing friends next time to enjoy the space.
