6/10
Service on Sunday was pretty bad. It wasn’t overly busy when we arrived, maybe 5 tables.
Waited to check in and was shown to our room. Went down for food. Barman was flustered getting drinks out for tables, with just one person serving and doing drinks.
Ordered food. Was ok, but I had to get my own cutlery from the waiting station. When plates were cleared we were asked if we wanted pudding. We said yes but no one came to take the order and then the kitchen closed.
Room was a great size, and perfectly adequate given its a 400 year old building….although I wasn’t counting on getting an authentic mattress from the period.
I travel a lot for business and it’s rare to find a spring only mattress. Awful and uncomfortable, like I was laying directly on springs!
Breakfast was ok. Wife had avocado on ciabatta with poached egg. Avocado was from a pot.
I don’t mind paying for a premium experience. I don’t like paying for the appearance of a premium experience. Can be much better.
