Could've been 4-star
Pros: - Very clean - Spacious - Decent location - Generally very well-equipped kitchen - Bed & bedding's comfort is okay Cons: - Soundproofing is average; hearing a certain amount of clunks and thumps from surrounding units - More importantly, the 2 bedrooms only have curtains as doors, meaning you can hear everything going on anywhere in the loft almost as if you were in the same room - including any snoring or intimate activity going on in the other bedroom across the hallway... I can't understand how this was thought to be a good idea... - The 2-in-1 conditioning shampoo doesn't have any conditioning power; would've much preferred 2 separate bottles. - The soap bars last about 1.5 shower each, which isn't a bad thing in itself; however, since you get only 2 of these for the duration of your stay, that means a couple gets at most 2 days worth of soap... Too bad if you're staying for 3-4 days or more! - Finally, please invest $2/loft to buy a couple of regular-sized ice trays at Dollarama to replace the ridiculously tiny single ice tray provided.

Adequate but keep searching
Good location and functional. Very sparsely furnished, be prepared to live out of your suitcase. Walls are paper thin so be careful what you say or do. Parking for $18 per day is a five minute walk away. While it adequatly met our needs I would seek out another place to stay next time.

It was a fine 5 days of food, shopping and walking. One glitch was the construction project next door. Also, a strong smell of diesel. The hotel offered another space for us to get away from it. However. for some reason, the crew quit at noon and the smell stopped. Staff was very responsive and came to our room and started the on wall heater/air conditioner to clear the smell. Thanks for the support.

The loft was beautiful & new! We felt safe there and very close to the port. We will definitely recommend this place to our families and friends. Will definitely stay there next time. We wish the washer & dryer are in our loft and not share with others but we don't mind.

My wife and I toured the St. Lawrence/Gaspe area in late September/early October. We ended the circuit with two nights in Quebec at Les Lofts de la Barricade. We have been to Quebec three previous times and stayed in a range of hotels, including Chateau Frontenac. The location was perfect-down near the Harbor within easy walking distance of most tourist sites. The renovations to this old building appeared to be pretty new. It was clean and well-maintained, done in a sort of Ikea-type decor. The price for a one-bedroom suite, with a kitchen/living room was significantly lower than even a two-star hotel in the area during the same time. Except for a small glitch at check-in, everything went smoothly. I would stay again. One note: if you reserve parking, the lot is close by, but use their map because GPS can easily send you to a lot across the street, which is not the one Lofts uses for reservations.

Our Loft was beautiful. Easy access to old Quebec by foot. Just not great parking options. We received a notice from the hotel about the “check in” process so we knew we had to contact them prior to our stay for them to arrange sending the access code to building and loft. The 3 other groups we saw at the building did not get that information… or maybe they didn’t see it.. either way, caused a bit of panic for these people. After contacting hotel, it all got sorted but it did take a bit of time. Just make sure you call this place before you are scheduled to arrive to avoid this access problem.

Lack of communication
Fortunately, we had been to this property last year and knew the routine so when we did not receive the access code 90 minutes after it was due, I called their number a couple of times before someone spoke to me. Her English was not great but we muddled through it. Plus no details in the room on internet etc. Again, we muddled through it but both issues had simple solutions if they were on the ball.
