The location of this hotel is ideal, close to many shops and both Bethel University and Notre Dame. When we checked in, there were two front desk staff, a very friendly and informative young lady was assisting another patron and proceeded to welcome her with a couple bottles of complimentary waters and they had a pleasant interaction that included a map of the hotel with directions to the location of their room. While this is going on, we were experiencing a completely different interaction. The front desk employee that checked us in was dismissive and rude towards us. No information about anything related to the area or the hotel was provided. We also did not receive a map to our room, just a quick “up the elevator to the second floor” finger pointing and no bottles of water either. I would hate to think that we were treated this way because of our race, both being people of color. But there was no other reason for the disparity. We were excited to be in town to move our daughter in to her dorm and walked away worried that this type of mistreatment was a normality for the area.
The bed and amenities in the room were decent. Unfortunately, there was an unpleasant odor in the hallways, similar to a wet dog and musty basement smell.
