Like stepping back in time. Great location on the water and within walking distance of shops and restaurants.

Excellent location on the river and close to downtown. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are quaint and the bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Highly recommend the king room with a river view. The included breakfast was good.

Historical hotel in downtown Marietta, Ohio

We had a very nice stay. The hotel did smell musty in places, our room smelled musty, but we got used to it and didn’t even notice it after the first day. It is an old historical motel so we accepted the musty smell. The food in both the restaurants in the hotel was very good. and all the staff we dealtwith were friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

Out of another era

As with any historic hotel, one should not expect everything to be shiny and perfect. That being said, this hotel is pretty well maintained, and its charm makes up for the cracks in the walls. The location can’t be beat! Our room was quite comfortable with a lovely view overlooking the river. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Old(er) and historic, very quaint!

Very quaint, historic site. Enjoyed viewing the displays of the by-gone riverboat era! Talked with a few couples who return here regularly each year and sometimes more!

Purchased the buffet breakfast on Sunday morning and it was the same foods you would get the free breakfast during the week and everything was cold, next time we will defiantly skip that.

Historic hotel and yown

Kitchen closed at 9 pm but there are options nearby. Ceiling fan didn’t work but A/C did very well on a very hot night. Much history in Marietta.

The sad and the glad

Wish they had a small fridge in the room. Loved the rooftop deck improvements. They keep this such a secret!

Great hotel but dine anywhere but at the hotel.

The hotel was wonderful. Old school feel and charm. The food in the restaurant was disappointing. From the long wait after ordering to the overall quality it was not what we expected for the cost. The wait staff were friendly and professional and did a great job but reading between the lines we knew they are aware of the poor quality meals being served. Will definitely stay again but will be dining at one of the local area restaurants.

Wonderful hotel in a lovely and interesting city

Lovely restored historic hotel overlooking the Ohio River, the Lafayette was a great place to stay while exploring historic Marietta. The staff was very responsive and welcoming, the bar made a perfect martini, and the gunroom served a delicious breakfast.

LaFayette Hotel

LaFayette is a historic hotel. Sternwheel light fixture, carpet that is branded, small rooms that are to be expected with historic locations. When we went, the main elevator was broken so we had to take the stairs. In certain places, the building is showing it's age in flaky paint or older/fraying wallpaper, but it's still a fun part of Marietta's history. We had a beautiful view of the river. The bed was not comfortable & it was squeaky.

6/10 Good

Good one-night stay

I chose the Lafayette because I wanted a hotel with ambiance instead of a bland chain hotel. The location was fantastic, close to the river and parks. There was dedicated parking for guests adjacent to the hotel. Breakfast was not included. My room had a view of the river, which was a nice surprise. There were 2 twin beds in the room, an antique desk, and a modern TV. The bathroom was adequate. Some noise could be heard during the night, but the air-conditioner usually drowned out all other noise. While the location couldn’t be beat, I probably would stay in a chain hotel the next time I’m in town.

Stay was great
Troy, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Enjoyed my stay. The only thing I would recommend is maybe a microwave and mini fridge in at least the suites. That made things a little inconvenient with the restaurant being pretty good.
