Good stay, great location
Everything was acceptable, nothing fancy - certainly for being the off-season and for the price we got about what we expected which was fine. Can't beat the ocean views and location on the boardwalk. Would be nice to have a curtain over the bedroom window that faces the hallway where the lights are on all night. There is a vinyl shade but it doesn't block the light.

Hotel staff at check out and check in was super nice. Gave the review a 5 because of the price, location and staff, but the hotel looks like it’s in the process of being updated. I would definitely stay with my family of 5 again.

The location is IDEAL and every room has balcony with ocean front . . . but the chairs on the balcony were broken. The sofa in the room was broken and uncomfortable. We needed to call for toilet paper, tissues, coffee cups, and other usual amenities that should have been in the room. This room did not have the extra pillow or blanket. The security latch on the door was bent and did not provide security.

Great Location - Needs to be Cleaned
The location was perfect. The room was questionable in terms of cleanliness. The layout was nice as there were separate areas for sleep, dining and lounging. The heating and cooling system was delayed in action.

ROACH HOTEL
Shame on everybody in housekeeping and marketing! This place is disgusting and the photos are misleading. I pre-paid for my room through Hotels.com and still had to pay an additional deposit when I arrived. As soon as I walked into the 5th floor 2 room suite, I detected a weird odor that smelled like syrup. When I turned the lights on DOZEN OF ROACHES began to scatter away. A few were bold enough to stand their ground (like the one in the photo). After the initial shock of seeing the roaches, the dired up white stains on the beddding and sticky countertops, I immediately returned to the front desk and demanded that my deposit I was charged be refunded as well as the cost of the room. The clerk refunded the cost of the room but Hotels.com gave me the hardest time refunding me for the room.

We stayed one night was told it was a smoke free hotel but you could smell smoke all through the hotel. We got a battery from the front desk so we could replace in the smoke alarm in the bedroom. The room was very uncomfortable. Could hear your neighbors very clear. There were gaps in the door and no security block on door. The bedroom had a small window that you could see out in the hall. The blinds didn’t cover window very well.

Do not stay at The Sun and Sand!
The Sun and Sand was extremely filthy. Fixtures broken, paint peeling of ceiling, rude owners! We stayed only 1 night of a 2 night stay and had to leave the next day. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

At least we got to go to the beach
It wasn’t terrible for a quick overnight trip to the beach and having a balcony on the beach was very nice. However the room needed lots of updates and repairs. There was sand everywhere when we checked in. We had a room that included a separate bedroom area and the door to the room made an awful sound when opening and closing. It was rough trying to not wake up any kids. There’s also only one air conditioner in the “living room” area and it’s opposite where the bedroom is so the room was quite warm to sleep in.
