Great little place to stay
Great little hotel just north of central Kapaa, right on the water and the shore path. Nice pool. Very friendly service. The receptionist was knowledgeable and helpful.

Great location but some quirks
Unbeatable location on the ocean with little beach and nice grounds. Good price for location. However, our room wasn’t cleaned when we arrived and we had to wait 2.5 hours for that. We did get a $50 credit for this inconvenience. Our room was comfortable but somewhat dated. Be aware that windows don’t open in rooms so there’s no enjoying the ocean air; you have to use the A/C. Beds were comfy and we slept well but were glad we only stayed 1 night.

Aloha!
Although we stayed only one night, we had a great experience! The staff was very welcoming and went over and above to make sure we were taken care of. They even had bicycles to use for the afternoon! The view was amazing and we were close to shopping and dining.

Lovely welcoming hotel right next to the ocean
Lovely location and the room we purchased for our one night stay was just as described at booking. Very comfortable bed, great addition of two sinks in the bathroom and plenty of coffee in the morning. Having a fridge in the room that really cools was helpful.

An Excellent Property for What Works Best
I loved this property for many reasons. We had a top floor view, although all rooms faced the ocean. We l9ved the free cruizer bikes and that it is next to an 8 mile (mostly flat) bike/ walking path. It has priximity to grocery and restaurants, and the employees are happy, helpful and proactive to go the extra mile to make your query answered.

Amazing location, absolutely perfect..! Too bad it's let down by the condition of this property, this place is tired and needs to be refreshed. Great Sunrise View
Our flight was delayed and our daughter was meeting us there so I had to switch my reservation and also I had earlier added an extra night. I thought these two changes might lead to a difficult situation. But nope. Every thing was handled perfectly! I was ver impressed with the office staff - friendly, helpful and relaxed. Our room was on the bottom floor and opened up on to a beautiful lawn that was then bordered by a pedal path and then a gorgeous beach. The sunrise views were amazing!! One day we used the complimentary bikes and road as far as possible along the path. As for the room, it was basic but in reality, we were barely there. Every day we were up to catch the sunrise then off to hike and visit beach’s all day. One night, I did jump in the pool at 7:45, and it was too cold for my liking. But did not affect our trip because, we’d rather swim in the ocean anyways. Easy to walk from the hotel to restaurants and stores too.

Good location, value, but needs upgraded
On the positive side, the location is great as far as proximity to the beach, a great walking path, and walkable food options are concerned. On the negative, rooms are definitely in need of upgrades, very dated and run down. Sink leaked, toilet didn’t flush without plunging on occasion, bathroom mirror needed replacement. Traffic in front of hotel and in this area can be really congested either direction depending on the time of day. Mattress was not comfortable. Overall it was good value for the money, but a little upgrade would really make this a repeat location.

Great view, convenient location.
We booked a single night at this hotel to use the amenities and have a room to shower and change in before our red eye flight home. It fulfilled the role perfectly for us! The staff was super friendly, the room clean and the ocean view spectacular! We sat by the pool to soak up some sun...chairs were a bit worn out, but served their purpose. Location was great...there is road noise on the property, but there were several shops and restaurants within walking distance. Less than 20 minutes from the airport so easy to head out when we were done. The room/hotel in general was a bit dated, but as I said, it was what we needed for the day. Lots of DVDs, games, amenities, etc. Surf was too rough to swim in when we were there in the end of December. There is an elevator to reach the upper floors.

Bad experience
We stayed one night on Christmas Day at hotel Coral Reef. Check in was easy and quick. The front desk staff was very friendly and allowed us early check in. The condition of the room did not meet our expectation as we paid almost $300 and noted AC has no cover lid at the bottom. You could see the dirt and dust inside. The sprinkler copper pipe not just the head is visible on the wall. Right before taking a shower, my wife spotted a cockroach on the floor. I managed to kill it. Unfortunately it was too late( after 10 pm) to request change a room or cancel the stay. My kids were feeling too scared to go to bed. We bagged everything in plastic bag and stay up as late as possible. When I spoke to the manager at checkout she seems to be not surprised at all. “ it is raining season and they come out often. We did spray lately…”. She did offer apology but I am not sure how genuine she is. Definitely not coming back.
