During my recent stay at the Amora Jamison Hotel in Sydney, I encountered a series of unacceptable issues that severely tarnished the experience. Despite the hotel's central location and promising reputation, the stay was marred by poor hygiene, a lack of professionalism, and an astounding absence of common sense in customer service.
The bathroom in my room was in disrepair, with moldy grout that reflected a lack of proper maintenance and cleanliness. This was compounded by the state of the lobby restrooms, which were visibly dirty and left unattended for extended periods. For a hotel that markets itself as a luxury establishment, these conditions were shocking and unacceptable.
The most egregious issue arose with the handling of laundry for my child. I was charged an astronomical 622 AUD to clean and fold small baby clothes, a service that should have been straightforward and reasonably priced. Despite explicitly writing "wash and fold only" on the request form, the hotel inexplicably processed the items as a dry clean order, pressing toddler socks and underwear and applying adult dry cleaning rates. The docket even misleadingly stated "dry clean total", which was entirely contrary to my instructions.
Not only did the hotel ignore my clear instructions, but they also returned the items with pins attached to the clothes, including toddler shorts, which pricked my child.
This hotel is 3 stars at best, old, grungy, and absurd with a 622 laundry charge with NO common sense.
