Comfortable

Room was clean and the pillows were so comfortable that I want to buy them for home. Breakfast was nice, had scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage, biscuits and grravy, fruit and waffle iron. Very economical and when in the Dayton area I would definitely stay there again!

I'd Stay Again

A decent place for a quick overnight stay at a good price. It was clean. Water was hot & pressure was good. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good also. We would stay again.

Barking is for Dogs NOT hotel clerks!

I will not return here until I receive an apology and a free night for all the trouble cause by a desk clerk NOT named Ashley or Mikey who is rude and aloof! He will not consider the possibility that a hotel guest has a legitimate complaint. He ONLY likes to hear positive comments. Barking as he did to me most recently is unacceptable!

Any negative comments are countered in your wallet

Because I have raised legitimate areas of concern with this property, one of the clerks NOT named Ashley or Mikey has unilaterally maintained a HOLD on my bank account and method of usual payment. Hotels have a right to do this, of course, but the morning manager earlier today, barked at me in protest---very unprofessional---and scoffed at me after I shared with him ongoing concerns about the dilapidated furniture in two of my recent rooms chosen for me, and about the wieful Wifi this hotel refuses to upgrade fir the convenience of guests! Therefore, even though my account has NOT had HOLDS on it during any of my previous 20 stays this year, the morning manager on duty at 7:15 am August 5, chose to be retaliatory and unprofessional...just because he could. The right choice will be for him to be reprimanded for his outlandish and childish behavior. Moreover, the property should offer me a FREE night's stay and an apology from this poor Man. Ashley and Mikey would never stoop so low!

An ok stay

My only complaint was that the room smelled like cigarette smoke. The breakfast was average. The breakfast server was friendly. The hotel appeared clean but older.

Housekeepers playing House?

This is a special Home away from Home location. Ashley is wonderful at the front dest and Angue is the BEST breakfast hostess ever! However, I had an unfortunate experience extending my stay this morning. I tipped a male housekeeper in the hallway and asked that he and his female colleague attend to my room next----the cleaning cart was right next door outside another guest's room with the female housekeeper inside---and that I would be returning in about an hour. The make housekeeper accepted my tip and smiled and nodded. I left and returned about an hour later to my room to loud, raucous, giggling sounds coming from the room next door. The cleaning cart was in the same location outside the room next door, my room had not been cleaned at all and I thought, of course, the housekeeping couple were undeniably "playing house" next door! I went to the front desk and Max assured ne I had been mistaken, that a communicatipn problem led the young male housekeeper to misunderstand my request. Max promised if I returned a couple hours later that the room would be just fine! Indeed, I returned much later and the room was fine. I am very disappointed Max and Hotel Dayton South made no apology, just excuses. I have never felt so belittled and undervalued---especialy when my decision to extend my stay was used as an additional and lame excuse for bad behavior on the part of staff who should know better. Even worse was my seeing this make/female duo continue to work together!

Just about perfect

I was welcomed by Max. He was gracious. He chatted briefly with me during the checkin process and conveyed the sense he enjoys making guests welcome. I enjoyed my stay so much, I made a reservation for a second night!

Great hotel, need adequate pillows.

Hotel was easy to find. The common areas and room were all clean. Breakfast was good. The only knock was the selection of pillows. I'm not lying when I say all four pillows were actually the size of small-medium throw pillows you'd see on a couch. Not one regular sized pillow. Thankfully, I always bring my own. But the other guest was left massaging their neck all the way home because of them.
