10 Best Bars, Live Music and Nightclubs in Koh Phangan

The iconic Full Moon Party is a unique experience on Koh Phangan. Every month, on or around the full moon, thousands of people flock to this beach party to drink, mingle and dance. You'll find a few stages along Haad Rin Beach with live DJs spinning loud tunes all night long.

Thrilling fire shows, juggling, and limbo are also part of the Full Moon Party. You can even join a round of fire rope jumping (attempt at your own risk!). The theme of this party is all things neon, so wear your brightest outfit and decorate your body with neon paint.

Head to The Jam Bar on Hin Kong Beach for a chill evening of live music and dancing in Koh Phangan. This bamboo-and-thatch hangout spot has a cool and homey vibe, with rugs right on the sand. Its clientele is a good mix of locals, expats and travellers. 

The Jam Bar hosts open mic nights so you can enjoy performances by some of the island´s best musicians. There is also a convenient food truck selling pizzas in case you get peckish.  

Bluerama is an open-air hilltop venue offering delicious cocktails and cool DJs. Its prime location offers panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand. The restaurant’s chic vibe is complemented with clean white décor, colourful lighting, and a gorgeous infinity pool that overlooks the sea.

While Bluerama opens as early as 9 am, we recommend visiting in the evening to lounge by the pool and take in Koh Phangan’s spectacular sunset. As the night goes on, you can enjoy a beer or cocktail with DJs spinning fun tunes until closing time.

The Eden Garden Party takes place in Haad Yuan Bay every Saturday night. The event’s appeal lies within its exclusivity as the only way to get there is by boat from Haad Rin Beach. Feel the rush of adrenaline and hold on tight as your long-tail boat rides the waves. Your professional sea captain will get you there safely (and likely soaked in seawater).

Locals and travellers from all around the world attend the Eden Garden Party. It’s a great place to dance to psychedelic beats like trance and electronica. Like most parties in Koh Phangan, you can find many vendors offering street food and buckets of beers or cocktails.

Coco Locco Restaurant and Beach Bar is a long-standing venue on Haad Yao Beach. You'll love the gorgeous setting of white-and-blue décor with palm trees and uninterrupted ocean views. Choose from lounge seating under the shade of its open bamboo roof or take a cushion right on the sand.

Coco Locco Restaurant and Beach Bar has a homey feel, so you can easily pass the evening with a meal, chat with friends, and take in Koh Phangan’s gorgeous sunset. It serves a good range of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, so families often come here for lunch and dinner.

Ku Club is a cool open-air nightclub on Koh Phangan's Baan Tai Beach. It’s a small venue that exudes a hip but cosy vibe. You'll appreciate the crisp white décor, comfortable sun loungers, pool bar and of course, music. It also has ping pong tables, a dancefloor, and a bonfire right on the sand.

Ku Club hosts talented local and international DJs, so you can enjoy different music genres nightly. It has friendly and laidback staff who can whip up a wide range of cocktails – the strawberry daiquiri is a must-try.  

Rasta Baby is a fun live music venue in Koh Phangan. You'll feel like you're in a big treehouse when entering this bar, which is surrounded by greenery – there's even a real tree in its middle. Seats come in the form of colourful rugs and floor cushions, all overlooking a small stage.

Rasta Baby hosts weekly live music jams, with a focus on rock and reggae. It also has an art gallery and a pool table, along with a nice range of alcoholic drinks. Try its famous Rasta Baby banana rum shake, served by the friendly and chatty owner.

Sunset Hill is a classy resort overlooking the beaches of Koh Phangan and the Gulf of Thailand. You can spend an afternoon sunbathing in its lush garden and swimming in a gorgeous infinity pool. Pamper yourself even more with a classic Thai massage. Its extensive pool bar menu includes tasty cocktails and light snacks. 

Stay for the evening to enjoy a beautiful view of the sunset, followed by live DJs, bands and performances until late. Depending on the night, you might see a cabaret troupe of fire dancers and circus performers.

Cult Club is a weekly outdoor jungle party in Koh Phangan that takes place next to a beautiful waterfall. You can expect an excellent sound system blasting loud beats and a dancefloor with cool lights and fog. Take in the party vibe, with neon-painted decorations glowing in the dark and performers dancing with fire and sparklers. 

Cult Club is well organised, so it never feels too crowded. There are a couple of bars serving drinks and industrial-sized fans cooling you off as you dance until the early hours.

Retro Mountain is a unique hangout spot with beach club vibes, but is actually set in a lush jungle. It has a spacious patio where you can sit under colourful umbrellas and enjoy views of the Gulf of Thailand. Thanks to its chic atmosphere, many come here to hang out with friends and enjoy good music.

DJs spin a wide range of genres, while you snack on BBQ dishes and sip potent cocktails. Retro Mountain also has several hot tubs and a makeshift cinema surrounded by tropical greenery.
