Greenland House B&B

Elegantly appointed, well-kept B&B with spacious rooms and high ceilings pleasantly located in Castletown close to a good beach, Castle of Mey, John O'Groats and Thurso. A converted bank house dating back to the early 1900s, it has tasteful decor, an elegant sweeping staircase and is serenely managed by the lady owner who is very pleasant and provides a good breakfast. Good value, really enjoyed our stay.

Easy to find and smooth check in. Lovely old house. Nicely furnished Friendly owner who was really helpful/ chatty. Glad we were able to use dining room/ plates/ cutlery etc to eat our late takeaway- theres v little open in the village on a Sunday evening . Room very cosy & comfortable. Breakfast- plenty of choice and served quickly. Will recommend to friends & definitely stay again,next time we're this far North in Scotland .

Nice propert and staff, location has limits.

Property and single person staff both very good. Location remote from choice of places to eat. One hotel and one Indian take-away only choice. Hotel full and unable to provide food. Indian take-away basic. For choice --need to drive to Thurso, so next time will find accommodation in Thurso.

Étape sans charme

Maison bien décorée et qui en apparence promet un séjour agréable. Mais chambre très très petite, autant que le lit, sans équipement : un lavabo, quelques prises et une télévision (dont on ne se sert jamais), mais c’est très minimaliste… Salle de bains séparée, baignoire et lavabo, toilettes, mais pareil : guère de confort. Le gros point noir pour nous est le petit-déjeuner : on nous a demandé de choisir la veille ce qu’on voulait (continental ou un choix entre 3 repas chauds). On était seuls dans les lieux, donc cela se comprend pour éviter le gâchis. On a choisi continental… et bien rien n’était fait maison, à part le café… pains de mie, croissant directement sorti d’un emballage industriel de piètre qualité, yaourts idem, confitures en pot sans saveur (très sucrées). Vraiment décevant. Même niveau service, plutôt froid : rapide bonjour le matin, puis plus personne pendant le petit déjeuner, juste un mot sur le bureau de l’accueil demandant de laisser les clés ici en partant. Ajouté au fait qu’il n’y a rien à voir ni à faire dans la ville, c’est une étape qu’il vaut mieux faire ailleurs.

Jättemysigt B&B. Vi åkte på låg säsong så vi hade hela huset för oss själva, vilket var en enorm lyx. Hon som driver det var jättetrevlig, god frukost och mycket välkomnande. Oryen är väldigt lite och fick inget att göra riktigt utanför B&B:et. Så perfekt ställe för en natt och vidare.

It was a fairytale-like experience!!! We felt like noblemen at a wondrous weekend outing! Beautifully refurbished periodhouse, great hospitality, delicious breakfast made with love according to our choice! And all that reasonably priced! If it weren't for the distance, we'd go there once a month. Very recommendable to all Britain fans who have always dreamed of escaping into a veritable "Homes&Gardens" retreat

What can we say but “Thank You” to the wonderful Victoria who greeted and treated us with warmth and consideration aplenty. Greenland House was so much more than we expected, with its charming architecture and exquisite furnishings & decor. Victoria was an exceptional host, and her sumptuous breakfasts supplied us with enough energy to keep us going throughout the days exploring the wonderful sights that this part of Scotland has to offer. We would both highly recommend Greenland House B & B to anyone looking for a true Scottish experience. Oh, and don’t forget to head to Dunnet Head to check out the puffins!!!
