The art of extracting money by lowering service
I have stayed at countless hotels and I have never ever not been able to leave my luggage at the reception for a few hours after I check out. This is a completely integrated part of what a hotel guest can expect as part of a stay.
Howeverm Scandic now asks me to place our luggage in a locker, charging 10-15 kr. Pr. hour, and guests have to pay on beforehand for how many hours thay intend to leave their luggage for.
This is obviously not to be more welcoming and offer a better service to guest, it is simply to make more money.
Of course, hotels are not philanthropies, but Scandic bombards its guest with beautiful slogans – and then, at very end of the stay, introduce an extra cost and inconvenience, which was not announced up front, and which is certainly not something any regular hotel guest would expect.
It is not a huge sum, but the way it is extracted reminds of the same almost contempt and deceit which Ryanair treat their customers with.
This may be what Scandic wants, but not what I want from a hotel.
