The other cohabitants were questionable. We were stuck between two large families, all of whom ranged from 8 months old to 24 yr old young people. That took away from the quietness we were looking for.

Not a family friendly place

I picked this place due to the reasonable reviews given on this website. But I am surprised at the high ratings it has received After experiencing this motel. But I will tell you that the biggest problem with this Motel is that they offer long-term rental . I think this attracts transient people. I found that there was small groups of men but I believe a few were drug users. This made me considerably uncomfortable and I decided not to even stay at the motel. I could not imagine if I was a woman staying here. The front desk clerk was friendly and accommodating though so the service was not that bad. The room appeared to be clean I did not trust the mattresses. The management of the motel needs to rethink its long-term rental Arrangements and the clientele it attracts. I would not stay at this Motel ever again until it cleans up its Act.

I am not a smoker and I wasn’t able to sleep well because of the smoke smell, I was sneezing the whole night and got a head ache from that stinky smoky smell.

This property is located by the lake and within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and shops. Unfortunately it is very run down and not as portrayed in the pictures. We arrived late on our 1st night, while the host was friendly, we were presented with 2 keys on rubber bands and told not to lose them. Our room was barely the size of a small bedroom. It had no desk or counter space to put anything. The kitchenette was a small fridge with a microwave on top of it, and a coffee maker on top of that. Overall not what was in the online photos.

It’s an old building, close to Sylvan Lake so called beach, but it’s normal in Alberta to have such obsolete from last century hotels. Go to Canmore, Banff that direction, it’s more like Switzerland…. Too expensive for what it is, Charged at the hotel some 3,10$ tourist tax - ridiculous !!!

First time to Sylvan Lake

The rooms could use an upgrade. Carpet especially. Beds were very comfortable and the room was warm. We were concerned as we could see light coming in between the door and the frame. Very reasonable rate.

Not fancy but exactly what you need for a weekend trip. Was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. Very friendly staff. Definitely coming back
