Last month, I stayed at the Makkah Hotel & Towers. My impression? Fantastic!
Prior to my departure for Makkah (and subsequently, Madinah), I read horror stories of the neglect one faces when checking in, as well as service issues during stays at the hotels in the area. My experience has been a phenomenal one where everything went like clockwork. I was pleasantly surprised to see local Saudi young men and girls clearly managing every aspect of a Guest’s needs. The reception staff were thoroughly professional and quick. I will however add that the Front Office Manager, a fine Saudi lady by the name of Ms. Aliya, astonished me by her high level of professionalism and acumen. I have traveled and stayed in some of the finest hotels around the world and thought I had ‘seen it all’ but Ms. Aliya proved me wrong. Her sense of ownership, the display of confidence, her pleasant demeanor and ability to make instant decisions is something one rarely sees in Europe and the US. I should know as I have been attached to the hospitality sector, at a senior level, for over 25 years in the US; 11 years as a CEO in Asia. I train my employee base and expect nothing but perfection.
To all at Makkah Hotel & Towers, a huge THANK YOU! This stay will remain to be a pleasant and fond memory for many years to come.
