Staff were very good, we arrived quite late at night because of the train mishap. It was raining and cold, we were made welcome and shown to rooms until we were happy with the choice!, room was warm clean and tidy. Breakfast was great lunch was delicious. A wonderful memorable stay will go again definitely!

Good reception poor room

The carpets were filthy and stained. Most of the were drawers broken in the room. The bed kept separating a bit. No plug in the bathroom sink. Wall paper peeling. The hotel is in need of a makeover. Check in was really good.

Room was very cold. Air conditioning did not work. Convector heater in room (I assume as the air conditioning did not work) also would not turn on. This made for a very cold and uncomfortable trip on a cold January day.

We visited on New Year’s Eve and were disappointed to discover, upon arrival, that no food service was available that evening—something we should have been informed of in advance, given the lack of nearby restaurants. Additionally, a New Year’s event meant the bar was closed, and there was nowhere to sit and enjoy a drink, which was highly inconvenient. As a result, we had to leave the hotel to make alternative arrangements for the evening. The property is outdated and in need of refurbishment.

A few little bits and pieces need addressing

Hotel check in was average, staff all appeared to be very young and lacking general courtesy such as letting us know where the bar area was, what time breakfast was and anything about the facilities. All a bit hurried and keen to get rid of us to our room. Staff pleasant but just a little bit of extra training would be good. Room was very clean but run down. Walllpaper peeling off wall, damp on the ceiling, radiators up as high as they would go and thermostat controllers had snapped off so no way to turn them down. The bathroom bin was broken. Just little things but lets the hotel down as a beautiful location.

Extremely poor and needs updating

Our double room was two single beds pushed together with no mattress topper. It was the hardest and most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in - we could feel the springs. Furniture was extremely old with missing handles, marks on surfaces and a table that couldn’t be used as it wasn’t level. Room service said to call for food but there was no phone - just a cable coming out of the socket with nothing on the end. Poor heating - a plug in electric heater was available. Lighting was awful, and very dim. Extractor in the bathroom was pointless. Breakfast was average. We have stayed on a few other occasions for functions at the manor, and only stayed again for ease of location.
