I was really looking forward to this hotel stay which was booked as a surprise for my partners birthday.As the hotel is sold as a five star hotel we were quite excited I had a conversation with one of the receptionist the week before regarding our stay and part of the conversation she asked if our stay was for a special occasion she said there would be a birthday plate in the room which I thought was a lovely touch but on arrival it wasn’t there which was disappointing!
When we checked in the staff on the desk were nice and friendly and suggested we went up to the bar Brass before we went out in town. Which is exactly what we did we ventured up to the beautiful bar area which is very nice and has a lovely outside area, when we arrived upstairs there was nobody to greet us or indeed get us a drink .We sat for a while before my partner went to have a look around the bar areas to see if there was somebody to serve us a drink we waited another few mins and decided to leave without a having a drink. Later we returned to the bar and found the waiter to be rude my partner went up to the bar after being ignored and asked for our drinks the response was yeah!! He was sat at his computer it very much felt like we were disrupting him.
Overall the restaurant is lovely and so are the staff in the restaurant very polite and welcoming.The rooms although need some sprucing up are actually nice however it wasn’t a five star experience I was hoping for.
