Pros: the staff were polite; breakfast buffet (same each day, only hot option is oatmeal)
Cons: the room was REALLY small. Two people moving around the space with luggage required a lot of negotiation. Virtually no place to sit in the room except for the bed. I listened to another customer complain about the size and get upgraded to another room, but we just tried to spend all day out. Booked a superior king room. Maybe king beds are much smaller in the uk, but it felt like a double with two reasonably sized people trying to sleep.
Also, the weather was very hot during our stay and the room was stifling at points.
The area is quite loud at night. Woken by sirens every night of our stay.
Using the DLR to get into London was fine—or the c2c the two days DLR was down— but it added time and expense. Especially if you have to get somewhere early, it would be much easier to stay inside zone 1.
It also wasn’t cheap for being further out and tiny. We paid over $1800.00 for 8 nights. At that price, it would be much better to get a room in the city center. It couldn’t be smaller and would certainly be more convenient if your goal is to explore London. We also shared the space with loads of groups having retreats and/or seminars, so we didn’t feel comfortable using the gardens or other rooms at times.
