So far so good
The bed is too soft which we felt backpain all day. We have tried both breakfast and dinner inside the hotel, but the taste is not good as their description. Maybe it's not suitable for us only.

餐點好吃、staff友善的古老旅館
是一間古老的旅館，感覺會充滿著故事，一樓的酒吧也是櫃檯，早餐、晚餐、啤酒都很棒！但也由於是古老的旅館，所以隔音效果會差一點，但是整體來說並不會造成太大的影響，畢竟無法知道何時外頭會有喝太多酒的人在街上大喊大叫。而且我們很喜歡它的位置，就在城圍邊，好有味道！並且走路到約克大教堂不到三分鐘的距離，走到火車站大約10-15分鐘，整體來說真的很方便！

One night for Christmas Market

Ideal for Christmas Markets
Stayed three days for the Christmas Markets. Accommodation was expensive and not justified as the room was in average condition. Bed was very comfortable and the location was excellent.

Overpriced and unclean
I really wanted to write a great review- the hotel is in a great location with friendly, welcoming staff on arrival. It is an old building in York but this shouldn’t mean that it’s acceptable to be cramped, unclean and lacking in basic room facilities. Positives- staff very amenable - the restaurant was full in a very rainy afternoon but they offered room service so we could eat. We couldn’t fault the food. Bed was fairly comfortable and room was warm. Areas to improve : cleanliness of the room. Pretty dirty with a very unclean toilet. Grubby shower, floors, windows and lacking in basic amenities - wardrobe, bedside table etc.. Had to boil the kettle on the floor as cable wouldn’t reach to socket, boiling hot water out of sink taps (there was a warning sign!). For the price of the room (£368 room only!) it really is terrible value and I wouldn’t recommend or stay again. I would have mentioned the issues to the staff but we weren’t asked how we found our stay.

Quirky Pub with rooms, lots of little eating area's and a large beer garden, bedroom was clean and tidy set just inside the city walls. Breakfast was freshly made and excellent and the food menu was varied and reasonable. Bar area is a little small and fills up at busy times , apart from that no other issues.

We loved the view outside our window of the old city gate, it was so close we felt we could reach out the window and touch it!. The room was comfortable and the staff helpful. Would recommend for an atmospheric stay.

We loved our stay once we found it as had problems accessing it by car in the dark, no parking and need to use carpark quite a distance to walk from the hotel. The room was quirky and the bed very comfortable and cosy. Staff were very helpful and food lovely.

Great location and place to stay
Only stayed one night but staff were very kind and it’s in a great location. The building is beautiful and the bed was really comfy. The pub has a great beer garden too. One thing to say (& this is common for the architecture across York) is that the doorways can be quite small and a bit of a hazard if you’re tall!
