Instead of giving me the key, the property told me they had double booked and that my stay was cancelled! I had booked for a week and has to find last minute accomodations (quite abit more expensive). I ended up staying in 3 different hotels, which was less pleasant. After a great deal of discussion they sent in the refund request to hotels.com (btw, hotels.com initially refused to refund me, writing "we're sorry this is not the outcome you desired). Horrible experience. As far as Im concerned a refund is less than the minmum, since it cost me about $500 more to book other hotels.

I did not even see it. Somewhere or other my booking was not processed. When I arrived, they did not know who I was and refused entry despite my presenting the emails confirming my reservation. I do not know where the glitch was or who was at fault (Expedia? Bellville? Me? Computer error?) but in a foreign country where I did not speak the language or know the city, I had no choice but to blindly drag my luggage through the street until I could find a hotel. It was tourist season and I had no reservation and was turned away again when I found a hotel. I finally located one that I could spend two nights in because after that they were full up. I had to leave later and find new accommodations. Naturally because of my exhaustion from wandering, having to change hotels, spend money on hotels that I had not anticipated using (I am not poor, but far from wealthy) and loss of time spent on vacation in Paris it was less than a pleasant interlude. I am 72 and have dreamed of Paris all my life and finally had an opportunity to go for a week. It did not live up to my expectations, and a matter of fact, the trip ... well... sucked thanks to the screw-up in my reservations. And that the way it was.
