Soulless….needs rethinking !
Nice place, however lacks service . Seems to be under staffed I’ve almost been knocked over twice with staff running between areas ( it’s very quiet here too ) Breakfast dinghies muffin a bit tasteless no greenery as mentioned. Coffee machine not on, coffee jug empty . Manager taking personal calls whilst I’m having breakfast .. not great and not heated up for business visits who require a speedy breakfast . Rooms are designed nicely but my room was a bit tatty and grubby in the bathroom . When I checked in late ( after 9pm) I wasn’t advised that the restaurant was still open , however as a veggie there probably would not be much option for a veggie in a steak house , so I collected a take away .. I wasn’t permitted to eat in the non restaurant area of the hotel ! Never had this before and I have travelled the UK ALOT ! It comes across as pretentious but they do not deliver the service that they think they do and it’s certain not a friendly environment … it’ feels very stressed with staff running around the very quiet hotel …the reception isn’t manned and the phone system doesn’t seem fo work .. I won’t be returning .

Nice hotel
Good hotel. Staff were nice and breakfast tasted good I had avocado on toast but thought the portion of half a slice of toast with 1 egg was small for the price.

Christmas Eve
Staycation on Christmas Eve. Had a lovely evening. Enjoyed dinner and breakfast of fungi Benedict was cooked to perfection. Piping hot water and powerful shower was appreciated. Friendly staff.

It was a very nice place and we enjoyed our stay, Only issue was the middle of the bed wasn't very comfortable because of the bumps created by joining the beds together. Also not as clean in some areas of the bathroom. Other than that it was a lovely hotel.

Great price for one night (near Stowe). Reception staff welcoming and warned me about tight parking in courtyard ( you drive through an archway which is a tight turn but if take it slow is no issue. We stayed in room 102 which was a large double. Very clean, had 2 hairdryers, iron board, tea/coffee etc. need to remember this is a 500 year old building so lots of character and some creaky floors. If you are type of guest who wants no noise when walking around go elsewhere! Loads of storage in room. Bathroom has shower over bath ( my only desire would be to have had a shower cubicle rather than bath but that’s personal choice). Food offerings plentiful and very reasonable prices. Cooked to order. Very attentive and cheerful staff in bar/ restaurant. Good location in Buckingham with a small fruit/veg market and separate flea market in the Saturday. Would stay again if in the area

Very nice hotel with parking good size room and bathroom .All staff very pleasant. Only negatives... there was no decaff tea or coffee available in the restaurant and the tv control in the room didnt work, there was another one that wasnt the right one but it did change channels and adjust volume..so why not remove the one that didn’t work? Also flickering light reported on arrival but not fixed. Would use again

Good break
Great location and staff. Hotel a little worse for wear and the breakfast was frankly terrible. Would stay again but it has an aspirational price point given the state of the property.
