El hotel es nuevo y renovado, pero para poder llegar al lobby, los carritos de golf deben de recogerte desde el lobby del hotel fantasy, claramente a nadie le importa que llegues con niños, maletas y adultos mayores… el que es más vivo que sube primero al carro y te toca esperar con suerte 15 minutos por un carrito que pueda llevar al esmeralda. El hotel no tiene ascensor y tiene 3 pisos por bloque. Todo un reto cuando tienes maletas o coches. La comida estuvo ok, creo que lo mejor son los buffets, sin embargo no están preparados para atender grupos grandes (o no les es tan agradable) nos tocaba esperar varios minutos o comer en varias mesas separadas para poder hacerlo más rápido. Cuando llegamos, mi reserva estaba pero no tenía cuarto. Al parecer jamás vincularon mi reserva y tuvimos que esperar muuuuuucho, casi no conseguimos 2 camas (viaje con niños) y nos iban a dar 1 king + 1 sofá cama… eso me pareció muy desesperante porque hicimos la reserva con dos meses de anticipación. Finalmente consiguieron una habitación en tercer piso :/ pero bueno, al menos teníamos 2 camas, que era lo que habíamos pedido. No hay suficientes sombrillas en las piscinas, ni poltronas para dejar las cosas… es súper incómodo para grupos grandes, como les cuento. Nosotros éramos 14 y fue un reto. En los cuartos no hubo refill de gaseosas hasta que tuvimos que quejarnos, pero dentro de todo esto.

Nice time

I was worried about the seaweed but turned out there is so much more to this resort than just the beach that it wasn’t a bother at all. Accommodating, clean and comfortable. Took the guesswork and planning out of the stay entirely. Will be back at one of the properties for certain.

The service by the staff was great, the food at the buffet was delicious and had a lot of variety, the a la carte dining areas are so-so. The resort was walkable and had a lovely beach. HOWEVER, although the cleaning staff was thorough when asked specific requests. The rooms were really dusty, and the sheets were stained. They smelled clean, so I’m sure they were washed. However some stains were concerning. Another thing is that they do not have elevators, if you have mobility issues make it known or they will put on the third floor. At random intervals the water in the shower and jacuzzi would be BOILING hot. Imagine being in 80-90 degree weather and then getting blasted by water hot enough to make tea. Maintenance did end up fixing it. But different floors would report similar issues. Lastly, this is a smoker friendly hotel. Unless you are inside your room, you will smell cigarette smoke.

Poor costumer service to say the least

First problem was already upon arrival. They didn’t allow me to go to the room because they needed to check something. A few moments later, they came to me saying that I had to pay 2000$ more because I tried to pass my kids as infants. I showed my reservation, which showed two adults and two children, no infants. They said it was not what they had and that probably was a mistake from hotels.com. They asked me to make a secure deposit so I could access the room and they’d verify the reservation. They used the deposit saying they had checked and it was my mistake. I asked to see the emails from hotels.com. They refused. The room’s toilet smelled bad for the whole stay. There was nothing done to settle it. We had power outages at least for one night and during one of those nights, there was a water outage. Their restaurant reservation system didn’t allow us to add children to the reservation (it was well informe where children were accepted). I went to ask why’d they said I should be able to make reservations with the children through their system. Didn’t work. At the last day, I tried just with the adults, taking the kids anyway, and it worked. In one of the restaurants, they gave us a table that was not properly clean and we found broken glass in it. I got hurt myself and one of the children got a scratch on her hand. Picture attached. Staff said they’d contact supervisors, but the table wasn’t even cleaned and we continued dinner with glass pieces in it.

The staff was incredible. Hector in entertainment is funny and full of life. The pool bar staff was amazing as well (Alexis and Albi). Very attentive and very mindful. Willing to help with anything. The property is huge. I always thought all Bahia Principe properties were in different areas but they’re literally all connected and you can commute via train (carts). They have train stops and you can get on and go to the other hotels and eat, use the pool, go to the beach etc. Our room, like I e seen in orher reviews was smelly. It smelled like drain mildew and sometimes poop the whole stay. Getting extra wash rags was hard. The cleaning lady had to ask management. We stayed 5 nights by the way. One rag the whole stay. Our refrigerator didn’t really keep anything cold. Pretty much luke warm drinks if we got thirsty in the middle of the night. Room service options were horrible and not that good. If you want to eat anything tasty order from the kids menu. Spaghetti was the best thing. The food overall was average. I can get better Dominican food from Brooklyn. Best place to eat was the buffet but eventually it got so tiring that we barely wanted to eat. We ate at two other restaurants and it was okay. The beach was great but the vendors are kinda annoying. Selling massages, pictures with parrots, excursions, hair braiding, rugs just about everything. You can hardly relax. It’s very overwhelming and you’ll end up saying no at least 12 times before they walk away. Pool close at 6.
