Nice time

I was worried about the seaweed but turned out there is so much more to this resort than just the beach that it wasn’t a bother at all. Accommodating, clean and comfortable. Took the guesswork and planning out of the stay entirely. Will be back at one of the properties for certain.

Poor costumer service to say the least

First problem was already upon arrival. They didn’t allow me to go to the room because they needed to check something. A few moments later, they came to me saying that I had to pay 2000$ more because I tried to pass my kids as infants. I showed my reservation, which showed two adults and two children, no infants. They said it was not what they had and that probably was a mistake from hotels.com. They asked me to make a secure deposit so I could access the room and they’d verify the reservation. They used the deposit saying they had checked and it was my mistake. I asked to see the emails from hotels.com. They refused. The room’s toilet smelled bad for the whole stay. There was nothing done to settle it. We had power outages at least for one night and during one of those nights, there was a water outage. Their restaurant reservation system didn’t allow us to add children to the reservation (it was well informe where children were accepted). I went to ask why’d they said I should be able to make reservations with the children through their system. Didn’t work. At the last day, I tried just with the adults, taking the kids anyway, and it worked. In one of the restaurants, they gave us a table that was not properly clean and we found broken glass in it. I got hurt myself and one of the children got a scratch on her hand. Picture attached. Staff said they’d contact supervisors, but the table wasn’t even cleaned and we continued dinner with glass pieces in it.

Overall this was such a great experience for our family! 2 kids 2 adults. The Esmeralda reminds me of a boutique style hotel. No lineups. There were always chairs. Tons of gorgeous healthy food. Staff were outstanding. It felt peaceful with direct access to the water. No need for golf carts. With this resort you have access to the other Bahia resorts on the grounds but the Esmeralda was by far the nicest. There was tons to do for kids and adults. It wasn’t wild like spring break. I believe there are only 500 rooms at the Esmeralda vs thousands at other resorts so it had a nice flow to it and never overcrowded. We were shocked at how little English many of the staff didn’t speak but managed and learned as we went. They were all very kind and constantly cleaning and checking in while we ate. There wasn’t pressure to tip or to sign up for actives from the staff- but the vendors on the beach were a bit intense sometimes. The bathtub in the room could use a good scrub and there was dripped dried paint from the Reno on some of the fixtures. Room for improvement: I wish there was a paper map. We are so over using apps. We also wanted real menus instead of scanning QR codes. The front desk could improve on giving an info package, tips, tricks, and a tour. We landed starving and found ourselves walking in circles finding where to eat at certain times. The rooms and restaurants had a mildew (?) type of smell. All in all it was so good and the little improvements did not ruin our trip

The beach was just a short walk from our room beautiful beach and great staff. I would definitely go back. Me and my kids were there for a week. Also... get the swim up if you have kids!

Really enjoying staying at Bahia Principe Esmeralda. The staff was really nice, especially Luisa by the beach bar. She made us feel welcome and made sure we always had a great time. There were minor instances when we felt a bit annoyed, like when the vendors by the beach kept coming and asking us to buy their services. Usually there is one or two, but this time it felt like we were being asked every 3-5 minutes. It was not nice. Something needs to be done. Other than that, this was a great experience. Entertainment was well done and they had enough variety for the whole family. From typical dancing shows with local folklore, to circus shows or bubble parties by the pool. Bahia Principe is getting better with time.

I loved the friendliness of the staff. Starting from the bellman to the front desk staff. Special shotout to Jose-front desk, Alfredo- guest services were very attentive and helpful. I will come back again next year.

The only thing that was renovated was public places the rooms where the same poorly maintained I had to change 4 rooms because of a bad smell.I had to wait 2 days only for the remote control to get fixed, in the bathroom water was coming out of the shower on the floor., Over all not hapy

Our new favourite place! We loved everything about this resort. Beautiful, spacious and clean rooms. Everything was close and walking distance which is a must with small kids. Dining options were fantastic! So much for kids to do. My daughter loved the waterpark, kids club, and endless virgin pinacoladas! The service everywhere was incredible. Staff were so friendly! We’re already planning our next vacation here. 10/10! Highly recommend!

Excellent stay. Upgraded our room to one with a swim up pool for an extra $35 per person per night which was great. Good food, buffet is better than most of the restaurants but the Mongolian restaurant was a highlight. Kelvin at the lobby bar is easily the best bartender in the area and will get a party started. No problem with beach access or getting chairs at the pool even arriving later in the day. Walked about 3 miles down the beach to a FANTASTIC restaurant called Captain Cook. Ate there twice in one day. HIGHLY recommend. Pay cash for activities for lower rates. Overall, great experience.

Overall, the hotel was nice and the food was delicious. However, I encountered several issues with housekeeping that significantly affected my stay. The housekeeping service was inconsistent and showed a clear lack of attention to detail. As shown in the photos I’ve attached, the sheets had stains and marks on multiple occasions. One day, the housekeeper took away the used towels but didn’t replace them with fresh ones. I had to call the front desk twice before new towels were finally delivered. Another day, the shower gel bottle was completely empty – which I only realized while already in the shower. Additionally, the toilet paper was never properly replenished. There was only one roll, and it was already half used. The bathroom floor was also not cleaned properly. I ended up filling out a complaint form, but unfortunately, it seemed more like a formality – no real action was taken. It was only after I spoke in person with the housekeeping manager that things improved. By then, it was already my last day, and sadly, the experience had already negatively impacted my trip. As for breakfast, I eventually gave up on trying to get coffee from the buffet. The servers would often forget to bring it entirely. To avoid the hassle, I started getting my coffee from the Sports Bar instead, where a kind and efficient lady always provided excellent service. This property was not one of the best we have stayed at. The AC wasn’t working well in our room, the maid service was terrrible. There were very minimal food options for vegetarians. I would not recommend this property to anyone.
