Great hotel, Excellent position

Good check in, clean room but out room was above the extractor fan so a little loud. The hotel is in an excellent position.

Stayed there overnight as going to a gig locally. Staff were friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back to stay for longer.

6/10 Good

The only complaint was the shower drain was blocked. And there was a bit of a musty smell.

Good but not perfect.

Very clean but walls could do with a coat of paint.

Handy location

Well located and room had everything we needed. Limited hotel paid parking at rear is easy to miss upon arrival. Parking iis available for a fee in the public square in front of the hotel. Food was adequate.

Good value hotel

Reasonably good value for money hotel. Outside noise was a bit troublesome as it was a hot evening and we needed to have the windows open - in addition to the fan that was provided. No drinking water or shower cap provided in the room which was inconvenient. All staff were excellent and very helpful

Nice building, several stairs between lift and roo

Nothing wrong with the stay . Good room for an old building. Only concern was the position of the toilet. It was crammed into and a tight fit even for me who is large but not exsive.

Very clean and good stay. Staff made a few mistakes and where unclear but they were very nice and made the stay good and were welcoming.
Jereme, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Clean, spacious, comfortable, noisy, odd plumbing.

The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable enough. The shower was strange in that it didn't drain seem to drain while in it. A strange barrier had also been glued in place to stop it overflowing onto the bathroom floor. To use the wifi you had to agree to some pretty egregious breaches of privacy, so I decided not to use it. Thumping music blared until 11pm from a wedding the hotel was hosting. It would have been nice to have been offered an option to relocate upstairs to a more distant floor.

4/10 Fair

Ok, wouldn’t stay again

Although the communal areas were in very good condition, the stairwells and rooms are a bit tired. Located next to the lift, the noise of the lift was awful, it sounded as though someone was trying to break into the room every time the lift opened. The hotel has potential but it’s not been reached. Breakfast, which I thought was included turned out to be an additional £30, there’s a Whetherspoons nearby, which would have been much better value for money and better quality. Parking is also an additional charge, so on first look it seems reasonable but by the time I added the additional fee for parking and the costly breakfast, it would have been better to book elsewhere. Location is quite good though.

Lift

Hotel is good and the majority of staff were excellent , However we were put into a room next to the lift and it was very noisy regardless of what floor it was going to and asked to change room / downgrade but NO thus we did not get much sleep for the two nights we were there , We were attending an event at Sandringham and asked someone behind reception for advice on transport and the response was 100% negative starting with certain guests checked out as you will not get there (there were solutions)
David, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Very clean and comfortable - really nothing more required to make our stay better
Angela, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Good Location, But That’s About It

Stayed at the Dukes Head over the weekend for a wedding and was left quite disappointed. Our room’s air conditioning didn’t work, and since it overlooked all the vents, it became uncomfortably hot. Even worse, the water in both the sink and bathroom didn’t drain properly. Despite reporting it twice to reception, nothing was done, and we ended up flooding the bathroom multiple times. It felt like the staff didn’t care. The best part of the hotel is the location – very convenient for getting into town. However, I would strongly recommend skipping the hotel breakfast; The Globe nearby serves two breakfasts for £12, compared to £25 for two at the hotel. Parking is also an issue: it’s very limited on-site and more expensive than using Tuesday Market Place just nearby. Overall, it’s handy for the town, but the poor room conditions and lack of response from staff really let it down.
