Didn’t quite get what I paid for…
I was travelling with my sister, so booked a Triple room so that we could share, but have separate beds. Contacted the hotel via Hotels.com a few days ahead to ask about check-in, stating the specific room I had booked - a triple - but had no reply. The next I heard from them was that they’d taken payment. Only when I emailed the hotel direct did I have a response, but no mention was made regarding any issue with the room.
My sister checked in slightly before me & unloaded - into a very small double room. At no point had the change in room been communicated, so I had to flag it with the front desk when I arrived slightly before 7pm. The hotel had overbooked the triple rooms but either no-one had noticed, or bothered to communicate it to me, despite charging me the triple room price. The lady on the desk was very apologetic and refunded me the price of the 2 cooked breakfasts I’d paid for (continental-only is included in the room rate) so the overcharge was lessened, but I would rather have had better communication or the room I paid for! It appeared that refunding food was all she was able to do in the system.
All that aside, the rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast very nice and staff very friendly. But bookings and communication via third-party platforms need improving. Overbooking more expensive rooms is really not on!
