We stayed at Luton Hoo last year and were impressed with how dog-friendly they were – they even set a proper dining table for us in the main hall so we could enjoy breakfast comfortably with our dog. That’s why we chose to return.
This time was the complete opposite. When we asked for the same arrangement, the manager was rude and dismissive, saying “no, we can’t accommodate you.” When I explained it had been done before, he told me it was “a mistake” and then walked off. We were left balancing plates on our knees on sofas by a constantly opening door – hardly the experience you expect at a 5-star hotel.
When we asked again, staff simply said “the manager has already spoken to you” and he refused to come back out.
It was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and a far cry from the standard of hospitality Luton Hoo claims to offer. If you advertise as dog-friendly, guests shouldn’t be treated like an inconvenience. Very disappointing, and sadly we won’t be returning. We were made to feel unwelcome and this is not dog friendly.
