I honestly cannot recommend this hotel and I find the positive reviews to be inexplicable.
I arrived late in the evening after a 12 hour train journey. My room had an overbearing smell of sewage and the level of cleanliness and overall condition was such that I couldn't stay there.
I found the hotel management to be unsympathetic. After complaining, they did transfer me to another room for the first night. This room was far from ideal, but in better condition. However, they stated that I would have to move back to the original room for nights 2 and 3 because they didn't have any space. They were not prepared to refund me for those nights so I could make arrangements to go elsewhere.
After a long, late evening conversion with hotels.com customer service, they eventually issued me with a refund for nights 2 and 3 by hotels.com. I was then able to book another property a few minutes walk away which turned out to be great.
After this awful evening of arguing with the hotel and being on hold for nearly 2 hours with hotels.com, the breakfast the next morning was better than expected. The quality of the food was average for Italy, but there was a pretty extensive selection.
