Slept well in Charleston
Comfortable and quiet room. Great staff. Excellent coffee shop adjoining the lobby. Free espresso coffee machines and water fountains in corridors was a nice treat. Walkable to attractions. Note that there is an event space that creates a lot of noise in an internal courtyard - if your room faces that area you could get evening noise.

Beautiful hotel, cold showers
The shower was inadequate— no hot water. We let the front desk know and they were very sweet and moved us to a new room. Unfortunately, that room also had no hot water. So we had to deal with barely warm/cold showers for the entire stay… and for the price of the hotel per night this seemed unreasonable. The hotel staff acknowledged that there had been other complaints and that they were looking into it. We had to dispute a charge for being upgrade for the inconvenience which was taken care of immediately. Beautiful property, very cold showers! Location was perfect! Staff was accommodating and lovely.

winter visit to Charleston
Just a quick weekend in Charleston. I picked the Emeline because of location and they were dog friendly. We loved this hotel. it is beautiful and all the staff was welcoming. It is 1/2 block form the market, which in the winter is not packed- during the summer this are might have a lot of foot traffic. Easy walk to any part of the old city you want to visit. The room was small so having luggage w2as an issue but it was lovely and the bed was comfy. We were not in the room much. The coffee shop allowed us to have our our in for our morning coffee which as a treat. Each floor has a Nespresso machine for your use. Was lovely to make a cup of tea in the afternoons. this will definitely be our go to hotel.

Loved it!
Absolutely loved the Emeline. Great style, comfortable rooms, really thought about things to keep the guests happy (like great coffee machines, tea, sparkling water, and fruit on each level). Our room hadn't been cleaned properly beforehand (clothes left in it, etc.) and yet I still thought it was a very clean, awesome hotel otherwise.

We really enjoyed having 2 king beds while traveling with our adult sons. Great location. We were surprised to see the eco friendly plates, flatware and glass bottles not separated from the regular trash. Good vibes.

Romance at the Emeline
Staff answered accommodations. Also, my now fiance proposed to me on NYE and a staff member went out of their way to take a video of the proposal, not just a photo, like we requested. This will be a memory we will always remember. Thank you Emeline!

Nice boutique hotel missing a basic amenity
Upon our arrival we were greeted and given a cocktail, then told we would receive a 20% discount on our first food purchase. We checked in on Monday. Tuesday morning as we were showering we experienced a loss of water. To be clear, while standing in the shower our room no longer had any water. No water in the shower where I was standing with conditioner in my hair, and soap on my face and body. No water came out of the faucet in the sink nor was there any to flush the toilet. After 10 minutes the only response from the front desk was we’re working on it and sorry for the inconvenience. I ended up toweling off and walking to a friends place to take another shower to remove all the dried soap and hair products. Upon our late return we were told sorry for an inconvenience, we think there shouldn’t be another problem, if there is we can move you to another room tomorrow. We ate in the restaurant twice and will have to call to get the 20% discount we were promised b/c like our water it wasn’t given to us. The hotel itself was in a great location. The staff were all friendly. The rooms were clean, and while not spacious well utilized. And, The lobby was decorated beautifully for the holidays.

Not a 4 star experience
Disappointed with my stay. The noise from the restaurant area was unbearable as they were playing club music, especially at night. I reported the issue, but the response from management was poor and unhelpful. After several unanswered calls to the front desk they resolved at 10:45 pm . Definitely not the restful experience I was expecting. I have stayed at this location before new ownership and expected more. This was not a 4 star experience and suggest to save your money or book at The Mills House for better service and experience.
