Staff was friendly and helpful. They promptly fixed a problem with our aircon. Good breakfast buffet. The rooms are not super soundproof, and we could hear the family next door quite late at night. The light switch situation was a little mystifying. Walkable from the train station if you can figure out which exit to use (we did not).
Muy bien el hotel, un gusto hospedarse allí. Desayuno muy completo y sabroso, staff súper amable. Cama cómoda. Excelente ubicación, cincuenta metros de jalan Malioboro. Gratísima sorpresa, esperaba menos.

The staff there were very nice and kind. Room was very clean. Location is great, near to shopping mall and markets. Everything was good including the morning breakfast.

The let down for this property was the cleanliness, on arrival there was a cookie in the power socket next to the bed closest to the door and the bathroom also lacked cleanliness. The nooks and crannies of the toilets can easily be cleaned with some bleach and elbow grease, and same with the shower. I imagine the housekeeping staff do not get enough time to do so which is a shame as the facilities outside of the room were very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good and had a large selection of foods. I would have liked to see food items get refilled more frequently as the pasta always seemed to be empty. The staff in all areas were very nice. I got very sick and they called for a doctor to attend the property for further assistance (check up cost about 350k IDR and medications about 450K IDR) which were paid directly to the doctor and no extra cost was applied by the hotel staff. On the same note it’s unfortunate the state of the bathroom was not very inviting during this time as the grime made me feel even more sick and queasy on sight. The hotel staff called to check in on me the next day which was appreciated. My partner spent a lot of time at the rooftop bar and loved the live music and bar tending staff and would recommend spending some time up there if you do stay here.

From check-in to breakfast area to check-out, the service staff are all horrible.
1. Unattentive front desk staff that do not even take notice of you.
2. Breakfast service staff that argues with guests. I asked for the manager to attend to me. Waited for half an hour, service manager was nowhere to be see.
3. Upon checking out they asked how was my stay, i told them it was horrible and they just thanked me for my stay. No service recovery and they just waved me off.
I have been to the Novotel chain multiple times but this Novotel is the absolutely worst! You are definitely better off going to other hotels in the area. Because of the horrible experience I had here, I might stay clear of the entire Novotel chain. I would advise other travellers to think twice especially for this hotel. Highly disappointing!

We switched our stay from Marriott to Novotel thinking about location. We booked nearly 3 months ahead for 2 non-smoking rooms and with sofabed. When we arrived we got 2 smoking rooms telling us the hotel is full. Then sofabed received no bedding even though I confirmed a few hours before again (they charge for extra bedding). The bathroom and hotel room floor was dirty. The worst part is that there was large mold coming out of the wall which would be a hazard anywhere else. So they still said no other room available until we went downstairs and showed a picture. The next room was non smoking, but the mold on the wall was just patched up with pieces of wall paper. The front desk never asked if everything was ok afterwards nor greet when we come in. Definitely different then other Novotels and Marriotts where we usually stay.
The restaurant staff was great and attentive! Wish there was a separate rating for that.
