On Thursday, August 6, I checked into the LaQuinta Inn at 300 E. 11th St, Austin, TX 78701 at 11pm. The receptionist checked me into room 414. The following day, Thursday, August 7, I booked another night and confirmed with the front desk. That evening, when I returned around 11pm, my room had been completely cleaned out; my two laptops, phone, glasses, and clothing were gone, and the room had been cleaned with new sheets, towels, etc. However, upon returning to the front desk, the receptionist (the same woman, again) stated there was nothing in the lost and found, and said it's possible the manager could check the office for me in the morning. (It was interesting that there was great emphasis on my "checkin process", and not on locating my items, regardless of the fact that the hotel has records of exactly who cleaned which rooms on which days.) The next morning I spoke with the housekeeping manager, who claimed that she was on the 4th floor all day on Thursday and there was nobody up there, despite the fact that my room had been reset. I also spoke with Reanna at the front desk, who noted that someone had "gone through" the manager's office that night, and realized that an "e-key" would have had access to that office, meaning it's possible the housekeeper turned in the items, and the night shift manager could have accessed them when alone that evening.
