My recent stay at Embassy Suites Chicago on State Street left much to be desired. While I expected the usual quality and comfort the brand is known for, the experience here fell well short.
Breakfast:
The complimentary breakfast was subpar at best. The scrambled eggs were watery, sausage patties were undercooked, and the rest resembled a basic continental offering rather than a full hot breakfast. The omelet bar, which is usually the highlight, had such a long line even right at 7:30 AM that I gave up trying to wait.
Service:
Service was a major letdown. I had to request extra towels four separate times over a span of two hours before they were finally delivered. That’s unacceptable for a hotel at this price point.
Privacy and Housekeeping:
To make matters worse, housekeeping banged loudly on my door at 9:00 AM yelling "Check out!" — completely uncalled for and incredibly disruptive. I’ve never experienced such an aggressive approach to checkout at any hotel. It stripped away any sense of privacy, peace, or calm.

Bottom Line:
For the price and brand reputation, this location should deliver a much better experience. Unfortunately, between the lacking breakfast, poor service, and rude housekeeping, I won’t be returning — and I wouldn’t recommend it to others unless major improvements are made.
