The hotel, unfortunately, does not live up to the promise of a 4-star establishment.
The exterior of the building somewhat conceals the aging state of the infrastructure: old and dull carpeting in the hallways and staircases, marks and scratches on the walls, very basic room amenities (e.g., an empty fridge), deteriorating bathroom seals, and a view of the garbage bins from the superior rooms on the east side.
I have attached two photos to illustrate the issues described above.
In summary, the Grand Hôtel du Midi may have once been a beautiful hotel, but it no longer meets the standards of a 4-star property. Thankfully, the breakfast staff is pleasant and welcoming, which slightly compensates for the rest. However, the value for money is undoubtedly overstated.
