Disappointed with a car park charge of £12 when you check out, no other option but to use the hotel car park, seems like blatant profiteering.

Great location & facilities, but very aged hotel!

Location (right on the lake, short walk to ambleside and on the bus route up to keswick) was amazing Facilties (spa and main restaurant amd watersports centre) also great, although be careful as some rooms cant use the oitdoor spa without paying and thats the best part by far Staff were lovely BUT the whole hotel needs a revamp! Looks very aged and cheap, rooms pretty average. We didnt mind as didnt spend much time in the room or care much about the interior of the hotel... but depends what kind of experience you want so something to bear in mind

Low wood bay august break

The stay was not as expected Facilities advertised on website unavailable to us . Expensive with no guarantee of an opportunity to dine at hotel - no free parking - no access to primary advertised features which all in separate ‘ elite’ wing to main hotel Therefore advertising is misrepresentative and misleading

Needs management over site

The hotel And spa are pretty good , just a few things let it down , decor is a bit weird , shabby uniform on the male staff , was pretty expensive also , £640 for 2 nights bed and breakfast. Found it hard to see how they justify that but have the cheek to charge to park .

Perfect couples staycation

Went for a spa break for our minimoon and it was absolutely fantastic. The cooked breakfast (even as a veggie) was delicious, the spa was about as gorgeous as I've seen (they have 4-5 different saunas on site) and the treatments were lovely (although as they are so busy tough to book in). The actual room (lime suite) was lovely (smaller than expected but more than enough for the two of us). The view we had were breathtaking, some of the best in the lake District and all from our own room and/or spa. It was perfect and I would 100% recommend it.

Gulag of Northern UK - thankfully we could leave

The whole stay had an aire of hostility about it. Orwell would roll in his grave if he heard about this detention center. Strange things were unchangeable like the temperature of the pool changing room showers. I guess you either take a shower at your prescribed temperature given, or leave. Every door was locked and you needed permission to move around this hotel under lock and key. Covid excused some rules needed, although here it was taken to an extreme. There was a horrible system where a very nice pool was out of reach to hotel guests (Spa club only!?!), unless you paid through your nose for it. The pool facilities on offer were average at best. The bar staff could not make even the most basic cocktail. The restaurant food and dinner menu was awful (breakfast was OK). We left every night just to escape. Upon thinking this couldn’t get worse, we were kept awake from every angle as the rooms on each side started to fight and scream - turns out the walls are paper thin. Drunk people also screaming in the hallways didn’t help either. Thank goodness for earplugs. Upon checkout, I left the hotel thinking that it was a trick, and that the staff would tackle me and drag me back in there for another night at the Gulag hotel….. disastrous long weekend which cost a fortune.

Not what you’d expect at this room rate.

Overall a very disappointing stay. At this room rate we were surprised to be charged a further £13 per nite to park the car in the hotel car park! Secondly we were very disappointed to be told that if we wanted to use the outdoor pool we had to pay a further £55 per person!!!....and we were told it was full anyway so couldn’t even pay to use it if we wanted to, even though one of the local members in the pool said it was practically empty outside. The young lady on the desk at the spa was particularly rude and unhelpful and just said the outdoor area was not part of our package (there was no mention of this when booking and at £300 a nite you would expect to be able to use the facilities). When phoning reception from our room we were kept waiting over 20 mins on one occasion and phone just not answered on another. We were kept up to gone 4am with noisy guests partying. I appreciate this is hard to control however there was no answer on the reception desk when we tried to request they ask the guests to keep the noise down. Finally the breakfast was very poor, my eggs benedict had next to no sauce, eggs rock hard and muffins stale. The breakfast room was also full of flys buzzing around the table which was not pleasant. There was also a planned power cut durning breakfast, later guests to breakfast were told it was continental breakfast only and no tea or coffee. Not even close to other hotels I have stayed at with a comparable room rate.
