I spoke to front desk at 9 pm to let them know we would be arriving late. Nothing was shared at that time about us being bumped from our room.
Front desk when we showed up said there was a rez mixup and we would be redirected to either comfort in or Sheraton (6 miles away). Meanwhile 4 flight attendants were allowed to check in.
It was due to a steel workers convention bumping us.
Said they would refund all my money & pay for the new room. We picked the comfort inn because we were right there and needed to sleep. We had driven for over 3 hours to get to Marriott and it was late. We had an early flight next day. I asked if they would know we were coming and the gal at the desk said yes they would.
We showed up at comfort inn which is not the same quality of hotel or room ( 2 double beds, not 2 queen beds). Not good beds either (all three of us have back issues) She had received a phone call but had asked me to pay for my room $116 and I told her to call the Marriott since they were paying for it. She did and then processed us.
The Marriott could have told me when I called so we could have gone straight to the Sheraton instead and signed paperwork there. I’m livid that a rez I had booked and paid for almost a year in advance was dropped last minute for a convention that was obviously set up after I had paid in full. The shuffling us as we were arriving and exhausted is not ok. A refund and paying for a sub-par room is not enough.

Check in was easy! Room was clean, bed was very comfortable. Only complaint is the pillows are horrible, small (for king size bed) and extremely soft. Food at the restaurant was great and having an in-house Starbucks was an added bonus.
