Check-in policies spoil the day
I arrived with 7 family members to stay in 4 rooms for 2 nights. Our regular Broadway trip. The hotel, which was recently refurbished from being a Hilton Garden Inn, is excellent but for us the real benefit is the parking garage next door so arrival and departure is a breeze. But, we will not stay here again. We arrived 45 minutes before check-in and only needed one room to drop our bags while we explored for a while. The policy is that even though they have a room available they charge $35 for early access. Worse, it seems that they require CASH and I felt it was a scam by the front desk rather than a real policy. So, nice hotel recently spruced up. Great location. Fantastic access with a garage next door. First impressions completely spoiled by an insane money-grubbing or scam-like policy strictly enforced. Recommended, but do not arrive even minutes before check-in because the desk will treat you poorly.

Great hotel, excellent location.
The hotel is very close to the theater district which is why we picked it. We had room 1501 on the top floor. The view was nice, looking up 8th Ave. There's construction going on across 49th street so there was some noise at times but I didn't spend too much time in the room. I was worried that I would hear noise from the rooftop bar but I never heard anything in my room. The only snag was that the elevators could be a b8r crowded or slow at times but it was not a significant obstacle.

Great rooms & location, so-so service
The Kimpton Theta is a very clean modern hotel with a great location. Rooms are spacious and clean, there is a large lobby with a little cafe. The elevators are particularly slow and the bar is closed from 2-5 which is really inconvenient. Additionally we found the lobby staff to be rude and not particularly helpful - good service would have made the stay a 10 out of 10. But our interactions with some of the staff made a little dent in the experience. However we would stay there again because of the location and size of the rooms.

Anniversary Trip Stay
Our stay at the Kimpton was wonderful. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary and the hotel setup champagne on ice for us in our room on arrival. Nice touch! Rooftop bar is very comfortable and happy hour wine got our evenings off to a great start. Hotel is just far enough away from Times Square to avoid the major noise and traffic. Will stay here again.

Nice hotel. I was on the 10th floor out of 14 and I could hear all the noise from the streets. It’s also near a fire station so heard sirens at all hours.

Convenient to Times Square, clean and sleek, maybe not up to Kimpton expectations; service was lukewarm, amenities? "out of" bandaids, room coffeemaker, yoga mat. Coffee but no cream in the lobby (only before 9 am), hard to find roof top restaurant which was pretty and did have good food, but dark, drafty clumsy access up staircases beyond the elevator made it mysterious, somewhat inconvenient. Then there was that old banana on the table outside the elevator on our floor.. There when we arrived, and throughout the next day. Part of decor?

Nice hotel and good value. Very convenient to Hamilton theater, Times Square, and Rockefeller Plaza. The neighborhood is busy and noisy but hotel felt safe and peaceful.

Our tv was glitching and freezing the entire night and it was pretty upsetting being that I paid $250 to stay there. Our thermostat also wasn’t working and it was so dry in our room the whole night because of the heat blasting and I couldn’t sleep at all. Is there a credit I can get towards the inconvenience?

Perfect long weekend stay
The room was a great size for the price in NYC. It was so close to metro stations and theaters. Perfect location as it was easy to get anywhere. Rooftop bar was lovely and the bartender was fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay again.
