Stockholm’s reputation as a snow-and-noir-tinged capital of imposing architecture, pale dusks, and moon-struck nights is at best a half-truth. There’s certainly a classical touch to the hippest of the Nordic cities, but beneath the cozy cafes, pristine winter mornings, and long summer evenings, is a vibrant not-so-secret modern city. From trendy Södermalm to fairytale-esque Gamla Stan, Stockholm offers a multitude of truly original delights.
Adventurous types might want to tour Stockholm’s islands by kayak, while amblers will enjoy strolling its leafy boulevards, as its waterside location means a breathtaking view could be waiting around any corner.
