The Hotel that could
The room was comfortable after maintenance had to take care of the A/C. The room was stifling enough without it. As for location, only a 2 minute walk to Times Square, and a 10 minute walk to Rockafella Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Besides the A/C issue and check in process, the hotel is in an ideal location and definitely worth the price.

Perfect location for Broadway shows
My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights before Christmas. The location is very convenient to Times Square and the Broadway theaters (we only had a 10 to 15 minute walk to most places we wanted to go). The hotel is clean and safe. Love the vibe of the lobby. Yes, the room was small, but we expected that for NYC. Our only complaint was the heat was not working well in our room (we were there when the lows were 14 at night & mid-20s during the day). I set the heat to 68, but it never got above 65. I told the reception desk on the the second day of our stay, and they said they would send an engineer to look at it. When we returned to our room that night, the temperature had continued to drop, and by the last morning it was 63. When we checked out, I informed them it needed to be addressed before the next person checked into the room. We would stay again, but hopefully next time our room temperature will be more comfortable.

Very good location. Housekeeping staff pleasant and efficient. Door to room was off center and difficult to open. Exercise room was nice but lighting was dim and exercise bike needed repair as handlebar won’t hold position. Sanitizer would have been nice to have in exercise room. All in all a nice stay.

We had no hot water in our room. They did not let us change rooms. They sent a guy to ask more questions, but he did not try to fix it. All of our showers were ice cold.

Nice hotel
The hotel was very convenient to Times Square. It was clean and quiet. Staff was friendly although it was difficult to understand the woman at the desk due to her accent. As with many hotels, the in room heating controls did not work properly and it was impossible to adjust the temperature. We were at least able to turn off the fan to stop the hot sir blowing.

Great location for times square, broadway etc. Room was clean and tidy, all you need as dont spend much time there. Room was very hot and noisy...suggest ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Would recommend as a good base for exploring NYC

How did they get four stars?
Hit with a surprise facility fee of $240 at check-in1 What facility? No pool, no hot tub, no gym, no in-room coffee, no iron, no cups in the room(paper cups available on the 4th floor by the icemaker), no refrigerator, no cream rinse, only two electrical outlets in the room, heater was extremely noisy all night, no streaming services to TV. Two of four elevators not in service upon arrival, line-up four a ride extended across the lobby. Sink plug did not work. Housekeeping was extremely personable!

The hotel apparently was a very old theater or a cabaret has an horrible smell that stays on your clothes. it's a super mega old hotel... the photos are filtered. The bathroom was broked. The location was good. The room small.

Fine for the price
If you need a reasonably-priced hotel in NYC where you’re not going to do anything but sleep, Paramount is adequate. A single room is large enough just to fit the bed and your suitcase. It’s not a good choice if you’re claustrophobic. The condition of the room was slightly poor - the pillows are pretty flat, there was a faint musty smell, the outlet in the bathroom didn’t work, there was some paint peeling behind the vanity in the bathroom, and one of my towels was not clean. However, the staff was friendly, the lobby looks nice, and the elevators were relatively fast.
