Mixed feelings about our stay here. The owner of the inn doesn’t actually work in the inn or atleast he wasn’t there during our stay. We had a change in flight plans and were going to check in one day late. I emailed with no response and finally had the staff at the hotel I was staying at in XiAn call for me. On arrival the next morning 10am we were expecting to be able to check in straight away as we were due to be there the day prior anyway. They had people staying in our room and we had to wait until they checked out at midday and then cleaned the room.. This was all extremely difficult to communicate as the staff present did not speak any english and we were communicating through a translation app. The staff are absolutely lovely and can not be faulted. We had an extremely authentic experience due to them but unfortunately the inn let us down in many other ways. As we had to wait a long time to get into the room we were offered tea and got a bit of a lesson on all the different tea. We also had dinner prepared for us that evening and ate a sit down meal with the staff and some of their family which was lovely. They then took us out to a chinese folk bar just up the street. The staff were all very helpful in regards to helping us plan our day etc. The inn though, sadly a bit run down. There were water stains/marks on walls, toilet smelled, doors didn’t shut properly, a/c didn’t work, just did not feel clean People are lovely, sadly the inn upkeep lets it down dramatically.
